A morphology independent approach for identifying dividing adult neural stem cells in the mouse hippocampus
Conclusion These findings provide a simple and accurate way to quantify dividing AH‐NSCs in vivo using a morphology independent approach that will facilitate studies into neurogenesis within the hippocampal stem cell niche of the adult brain. Separate and coincident expression of Hes1 and Hes5 in the developing mouse eye
Conclusions: Hes5‐GFP BAC transgenic mice are useful for identifying Hes5‐expressing cells. Although Hes5‐GFP and Hes1 are coexpressed in particular developmental contexts, we also noted cohorts of lens or retinal cells expressing just one factor. The dynamic Hes5‐GFP expression pattern, coupled with its derepressed expression in Hes1 mutants, suggests that this transgene contains the relevant cis‐regulatory elements that regulate endogenous Hes5 in the mouse lens and retina. IRF6 expression in basal epithelium partially rescues Irf6 knockout mice
Conclusion: Together, these data suggest that targeted expression of IRF6 can significantly reduce disease severity, but that a minimum level of Irf6 in both periderm and basal epithelial cells is necessary for orofacial development. Therefore, homologous human and mouse phenotypes are observed for IRF6, IKKA and RIPK4. In this work, we show that altering the expression level of IRF6 dramatically modified this phenotype in utero. RUNX2 ‐I is an early regulator of epithelial‐mesenchymal cell transition in the chick embryo
Conclusions: This data introduces the RUNX2‐I isoform as a critical early transcription factor mediating EMT in the developing heart after induction by TGFβ2. Its expression in tumor tissue suggests a similar role for RUNX2 in the EMT of metastasis. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved. (Source: Developmental Dynamics)

Cells from subcutaneous tissues contribute to scarless skin regeneration in Xenopus laevis froglets
Conclusions: Cells derived from subcutaneous tissues, at least in the trunk region, contribute to and may be essential for skin regeneration. Characterizing the subcutaneous tissue–derived cells that contribute to skin regeneration in amphibians may lead to the induction of cells that can regenerate complete skin structures without scarring in mammals. Transmission Electron Microscopy of Zebrafish Spinal Motor Nerve Roots
Conclusions: We developed an efficient protocol for locating spinal motor nerves in adult zebrafish to allow for ultrastructural characterization. Although our work focuses on spinal motor nerves, this protocol may be useful for efficiently identifying other discrete, repeated structures within the developing and mature nervous system that are difficult to find via traditional, whole organism TEM processing.
