Study on Co-flow Effect on Janus Droplet Generation Based on Step Emulsification
In this study, a multi-channel step emulsification device was developed to generate Janus droplets and to study the effects of both continuous phase co-flow and dispersed phase flow on the generation of Janus droplets. Janus droplets were successfully prepared by the device, and the generation stability was optimized by using glass capillaries instead of microcapillary film based on their different wall contact angles at the channel outlet. The results showed that when the continuous phase co-flow rate increased, the resulted Janus droplet diameter decreased, and the generation frequency increased. When the flow rate of di...

Chemical Analysis and Imaging of Fingerprints by Air-flow Assisted Desorption Electrospray Ionization Mass Spectrometry
In this study four kinds of fingerprints, including sweat, inkpad, sunscreen, and liquid foundation, were analyzed by air-flow assisted desorption electrospray ionization mass spectrometry imaging (AFADESI-MSI). AFADESI was employed with air flow of 45 L min−1, and 5 μL min−1 acetonitrile was used as spray solvent at spray voltage of 7000 V. Positive ion full scan mode (100−1000 Da) was chosen. The results showed that AFADESI-MSI method could not only obtain chemical information of various endogenous and exogenous substances in fingerprints, but also obtain high resolution images of fingerprints. In addition, overla...

Application of Mass Spectrometry in Analysis of Non-Enzymatic Glycation Proteins in Diabetic Blood
Publication date: November 2019Source: Chinese Journal of Analytical Chemistry, Volume 47, Issue 11Author(s): Wei-Feng LI, De-Wen YAN, Yu JIN, Hai-Yan LI, Min MA, Zheng-Zhi WUAbstractDiabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disorder disease characterized by hyperglycemia. Long-term physiological hyperglycemia will aggravate the degree of non-enzymatic glycation (NEG) proteins. Because the abnormal changes of non-enzymatic process can cause a series of pathological variation, NEG proteins have attracted more and more attention. Mass spectrometry (MS) is an indispensable and powerful analytical tool for the qualitative and quan...
