Bayer-Activities of Daily Living Scale in Mild and Moderate Dementia of the Alzheimer Type
The main purpose of this study is to examine the reliability of the Bayer-Activities of Daily Living (B-ADL) scale when used as a cognitive screening instrument for mild and moderate dementia of the Alzheimer type. This is a retrospective study of 66 patients with dementia. The B-ADL scale was completed by the caregiver or the family member at the first encounter. The internal consistency was found to be 0.94 for the 27 patients that completed all 25 questions in the scale. Cerebrospinal Fluid Biomarkers of Alzheimer's Disease in Chinese Patients: A Pilot Study
In view of the paucity of data on cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) biomarkers in Chinese patients, we evaluated the validity of tau, phosphorylated tau 181 (p-tau-181), amyloid β 42 (Aβ42), and Aβ40 proteins in Chinese patients with Alzheimer’s disease (AD). We recruited 24 patients with AD, 12 nondemented controls, and 12 patients with non-AD dementia. What is Family-Centered Care for Nursing Home Residents With Advanced Dementia?
To understand family members’ perspectives on person- and family-centered end-of-life care provided to nursing home (NH) residents with advanced dementia, we conducted a qualitative follow-up interview with 16 respondents who had participated in an earlier prospective study, Choices, Attitudes, and Strategies for Care of Advance Dementia at End of Life (CASCADE).
