Hybrid Endovascular Treatment of an Aortic Root and Thoracoabdominal Aneurysm in a High-Risk Patient With Marfan Syndrome
This report describes the hybrid endovascular treatment of an aortic root dilatation and a thoracoabdominal aneurysm in a high-risk patient with Marfan syndrome. A 50-year-old male, in hemodialysis for polycystic kidney and polycystic liver, was referred to our department for aortic root dilatation of 5 cm and a 6.3-cm thoracoabdominal aneurysm . He already underwent surgical repair of abdominal aortic aneurysm 10 years ago, complicated by pseudoaneurysm of the proximal anastomosis that had been treated in another center, with an endoprosthesis. The patient underwent aortic root replacement, aortic valve sparing operation,...

A New Technique of Branched Stent Graft Treatment for Ruptured Thoracoabdominal Aortic Aneurysms
Endovascular repair of thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms (TAAAs) using a branched stent graft is a technically challenging procedure. A 64-year-old man with multiple medical problems, including severe renal impairment, is presented with a ruptured type IV TAAA. He underwent emergency repair using an off-the-shelf branched stent graft and carbon dioxide as the exclusive contrast agent. (Source: Vascular and Endovascular Surgery)

Determination of Patient Preference for Location of Elective Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Surgery
Conclusions: The vast majority of patients with AAA will accept longer travel distances for care as long as it results in a reduction in perioperative mortality. (Source: Vascular and Endovascular Surgery)

The Effect of Balloon-Occluded Transvenous Obliteration of Gastric Varices and Gastrorenal Shunts on the Hepatic Synthetic Function: A Comparison Between Child-Pugh and Model for End-Stage Liver Disease Scores
Conclusion: The BRTO has a positive effect on the hepatic synthetic function. However, there is a high incidence of post-BRTO ascites (31% of the patients). As a result, the MELD score appears to be a more sensitive gauge for hepatic synthetic function compared to the C-P score for patients undergoing BRTO. (Source: Vascular and Endovascular Surgery)

Experience of HeRO Dialysis Graft Placement in a Challenging Population
Conclusions: In the end-stage renal disease population with central venous occlusive disease, the HeRO device offers the best long-term dialysis option when an arteriovenous fistula or graft is not possible. Close follow-up and subsequent aggressive interventions can prolong the use of the HeRO and avoid the last resort of dialysis catheters. (Source: Vascular and Endovascular Surgery)

Changing Strategies to Treat Venous Thrombotic Occlusions of the Upper and Lower Extremities Secondary to Compressive Phenomena
Conclusion: Use of MT has led to shorter treatment duration and length of hospital stay. Limiting first rib resection to the anterior half of the rib shortened operative time. Patients requiring stents had excellent long-term patency rates. (Source: Vascular and Endovascular Surgery)

Endovascular Versus Open Repair of Popliteal Artery Aneurysms: Outcomes in the US Medicare Population
Conclusion: Despite a significant increase in the utilization of endovascular repair of PAAs, endovascular repair was associated with greater reinterventions over time and did not offer a mortality or cost benefit. (Source: Vascular and Endovascular Surgery)

Vascular Endostapling Systems for Vascular Endografts (T)EVAR--Systematic Review--Current State
Conclusion: The results are not conclusive. With endostaple systems, patients with difficult anatomic features and high risk can potentially be treated. These systems might reduce the high reintervention rates after endovascular aneurysm repair. Controlled randomized trials with larger number of patients are warranted with endostapling use in primary endograft implantation and for use in reintervention for late endoleaks or endograft migrations. Persistent Left Sciatic Artery Eliminated Need for Revascularization in a 13-Year-Old With Pseudoaneurysm of the Superficial Femoral Artery
This article reports the case of a 13-year-old male patient with left superficial femoral artery pseudoaneurysm after gunshot wound and complete PSA with in-line flow to the popliteal artery as incidental finding. The patient underwent coil embolization of the pseudoaneurysm with the sciatic artery left intact. The technical aspects are discussed and the literature on diagnosis and therapeutic approach of this anatomical variation is reviewed. (Source: Vascular and Endovascular Surgery)

Repeat Endovascular Repair for Multiple Intimal Tears After Endovascular Stent Grafting of Stanford Type B Aortic Dissection
A 59-year-old man with hypertension was found to have a Stanford type B aortic dissection with a false lumen extending to the abdominal aorta. We placed a stent graft to the thoracic aorta covering the proximal entry and planned a second endovascular repair to cover the entries in the abdominal aorta. Five years later, computed tomography angiography revealed an extensive dissection to the right common iliac artery with multiple intimal tears. We placed stent grafts in the distal end of the primary stent graft and an abdominal stent graft to the aortic bifurcation to cover the entry tears. However, 3 months later it develo...
