Invasive dermatophytosis mimicking vasculitis
We report a case of invasive dermatophytosis mimicking vasculitis. A patient consulted the Department of Dermatology, Zealand University Hospital, Roskilde, Denmark for the assessment of violaceous/erythematous lesions thought to be vasculitis. She had prior to this been treated with the immunosuppressive drug teriflunomid. Due to the lesion's erythematous scaling boarder invasive dermatophytosis was suspected. By using direct microscopy a mycological diagnosis was confirmed. We underline the utility of direct microscopy in the diagnosis. (Source: Medical Mycology Case Reports)

Auxarthron alboluteum related to non-dermatophytic toenail infection in Kurdistan region, Iraq: A case report
We report a rare case of non-dermatophytic onychomycosis of the big toenail caused by Auxarthron alboluteum in a 63-years old Iraqi female with a history of diabetes. The big toenail showed distal subungual onychomycosis with extensive yellow-white discoloration. Identification of the causative agent was confirmed by morphological and microscopical characteristics in culture and analysis of ITS-rDNA region. To the best of our knowledge, the isolated Auxarthron alboluteum reported here is a new etiologic species of nail infection in Iraq and this is the first case of its kind to be reported in the world. Presentation of histoplasmosis as mononucleosis syndrome in an immunocompetent patient
We present the case of an 18 year-old immunocompetent, male patient, resident of the State of Florida, who showed signs of mononucleosis syndrome that included odynophagia, cervical adenomegaly, sporadic fever and rash; however, no pulmonary involvement or visceromegaly were present. Faced with this atypical and unexpected clinical picture, histoplasmosis infection was eventually diagnosed following cervical lymph-node biopsy. Disseminated histoplasmosis may have unexpected manifestations, as is pointed out in the case described below. (Source: Medical Mycology Case Reports)

First case report of fulminant septic shock from meningococcemia associated with Cryptococcus neoformans coinfection in an immunocompetent patient
We describe a case of an immunocompetent 74-year-old Caucasian woman who presented with fulminant acute meningococcemia associated with cryptococcal meningitis, which progressed to worsening general condition and died of septic shock and multiple organ dysfunctions in less than 48 hours. This case report demonstrates the possibility of coinfections related to Neisseria meningitidis and Cryptococcus neoformans, even in immunocompetent patients, which represent a diagnostic challenge for clinicians, thus encouraging further studies for a better understanding.
