Meningeal and multiorgan disseminated sporotrichosis: A case report and autopsy study

Imaging studies revealed acute ischemic brain event with haemorrhagic transformation in right frontal lobe. Skin biopsy showed Sporothrix schenckii. He was treated with standard amphotericin B. Despite therapy, he developed consciousness loss, multiorgan-failure and eventually expired. Necropsy findings showed renal, hepatic, splenic, prostate, testicles and meningeal/cerebral involvement.
