Successfully treated isolated renal artery pseudoaneurysm in a patient with Beh çet's disease
We report a case of renal artery pseudoaneurysm induced by Behçet's disease and treated successfully with coil embolization. A 56-year-old woman with Behçet's disease presented with an incidental left renal artery pseudoaneurysm measuring 18 mm. We successfully performed endovascular treatment with coil embolization instead of surgical treatment. (Source: Kidney Research and Clinical Practice)

Assessment of the relationship between serum soluble Klotho and carotid intima –media thickness and left ventricular dysfunction in hemodialysis patients
Conclusion The present study showed that patients with a low s-Klotho were more often associated with increased CIMT, LV dysfunction, and CAD, and it seems that there was independent association between s-Klotho and CIMT, LVEF, and CAD. (Source: Kidney Research and Clinical Practice)

Adenosine monophosphate –activated protein kinase in diabetic nephropathy
Publication date: Available online 8 March 2016 Source:Kidney Research and Clinical Practice Author(s): Yaeni Kim, Cheol Whee Park Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is the leading cause of end-stage renal disease, and its pathogenesis is complex and has not yet been fully elucidated. Abnormal glucose and lipid metabolism is key to understanding the pathogenesis of DN, which can develop in both type 1 and type 2 diabetes. A hallmark of this disease is the accumulation of glucose and lipids in renal cells, resulting in oxidative and endoplasmic reticulum stress, intracellular hypoxia, and inflammation, eventually leading to ...

Cicletanine-induced hyponatremia and hypokalemia in kidney transplant patients
Conclusions We demonstrate that cicletanine may induce hyponatremia or hypokalemia in kidney transplant patients. Hyponatremia is more frequently associated with cicletanine than hypokalemia, and extended use of cicletanine may increase the risk of hyponatremia. (Source: Kidney Research and Clinical Practice)

Unmasked chronic renal function deterioration after unilateral adrenalectomy in patients with primary aldosteronism
We report two cases of chronic eGFR decline after unilateral adrenalectomy d/t PA. The patients were diagnosed with unilateral adrenal cortical adenoma releasing aldosterone. Two patients were examined for hypertension and hypokalemia. Unilateral laparoscopic adrenalectomy was performed in both cases, and pathology confirmed adrenal cortical adenoma. After adrenalectomy, hypertension and hypokalemia improved to within normal range. But eGFR decreased postoperatively and abdominal computed tomography scan showed decreased kidney size compared to previous images. Kidney biopsy was performed to delineate the exact cause of re...
