Effects of Lumbar Core Stability Exercise Programme on Knee Pain, Range of Motion, and Function Post Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction
Conclusion Institutional conventional exercise protocol is effective in reducing pain and improving the ROM post and lumbar core stability exercise programme is effective in improving function, post ACL reconstruction. (Source: Journal of Orthopaedics, Trauma and Rehabilitation)

Reduced Incision Surgical Fixation of Diaphyseal Forearm Fractures in Adults through a Minimally Invasive Volar Approach
Conclusion The minimally invasive volar approach to the forearm is as safe and efficacious as traditional approaches in the fixation of diaphyseal radius fractures. (Source: Journal of Orthopaedics, Trauma and Rehabilitation)

Transverse Incision for Minimally Invasive Plate Osteosynthesis of Osteoporotic Tibial Plateau Fractures
We describe osteoporotic fragility tibial plateau fractures managed with plate fixation applied through minimally invasive transverse incisions. All cases achieved acceptable fracture reduction, restoration of alignment, and timely bone union without infection or wound complications. This technique reduces the risk of wound complications at later arthroplasty, along with the established benefits of current minimally invasive techniques. This is the first report in the literature of the use of transverse incisions for minimally invasive plate fixation of the tibial plateau. (Source: Journal of Orthopaedics, Trauma and Rehabilitation)

Paediatric First-Time Patella Dislocators: An Approach to Conservative Management
Conclusion We recommend the use of a brace, with a progressive rehabilitation protocol in the management of first-time lateral patella dislocators. This study is also unique, in that it specifically addresses nonoperative management of first time patella dislocators in a paediatric-age population group. Appropriate Choice of Plate for the Posterior Malleolus: Computed Tomography Study of 122 Chinese Adult Patients
Conclusion Our study demonstrated the importance of understanding the anatomy of the PM for safe and effective plating of PM fractures. It provided estimations for appropriate width of plate and the method to evaluate the correctness by comparing with the width of the tibia. Correction of Combined Flexed and Stiff Knee Gait in Spastic Diplegic Cerebral Palsy by Double Tendon Transfers Around the Knee as Part of Multilevel Surgery
Conclusion Double transfer around the knee can improve both flexed knee gait and stiff knee gait, without causing significant hip extension weakness. (Source: Journal of Orthopaedics, Trauma and Rehabilitation)

A Novel Closed Method to Retrieve Broken Teflon Tube During Intramedullary Nailing in Proximal Humeral Fracture
Publication date: December 2017 Source:Journal of Orthopaedics, Trauma and Rehabilitation, Volume 23 Author(s): Yuk Fai Lau, Alexander Pak Hin Chan, Jeffrey Justin Siu Cheong Koo, Ka Bon Kwok, Jason Chi Ho Fan Broken medullary tubes have been used for intramedullary (IM) nailing of femoral and tibial fractures. In these reported cases, fragments of the medullary tube were retrieved by opening the fracture sites or left in situ, which might jeopardize periosteal blood supply. We herein present the case of a 58-year-old woman who underwent IM nailing for proximal humeral fracture, which was complicated by breakage of ...

Spontaneous Spinal Epidural Haematoma in a 34-week Pregnant Woman: A Case Report and Literature Review
We report a case of acute spontaneous spinal epidural hematoma in a 34-year-old primigravida woman at 34 weeks’ gestation who presented with sudden back pain and paraplegia. Emergency spinal decompression surgery was done with the continuation of pregnancy. We discuss the presentation and management of the rare condition with a review of the literature. Combined Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction and High Tibial Osteotomy in Anterior Cruciate Ligament-Deficient Varus Knees
Conclusion The combined procedure of ACL reconstruction and high tibial osteotomy restored knee stability and reduced pain over the medial compartment. Although the combined procedure has a longer period of rehabilitation than an isolated ACL reconstruction, the elimination of lateral thrust and preservation of articular cartilage of the medial compartment are of paramount importance to the future of these knees. Operative Reduction and Fixation of a Sternomanubrial Dislocation: A Case Report and Literature Review
Publication date: December 2017 Source:Journal of Orthopaedics, Trauma and Rehabilitation, Volume 23 Author(s): Thomas J. Wood, Kellee Stephens, Matthew Denkers A dislocation of the sternomanubrial joint is a rare injury with varied treatment methods including both nonoperative and operative described methods. There is a paucity of literature regarding the optimal method of treatment as well as a lack of consensus on the best surgical construct. This case demonstrates the successful use of dual locking plate fixation for an acute type II sternomanubrial dislocation in a 22-year-old man. In principle, locking plate fix...

Neurilemmomas of the Hand —A Review of the Clinical Presentation, Surgical Outcome, and Potential Risk Factors
Conclusion Neurilemmoma should be one of the differential diagnoses when dealing with hand masses. Tinel's sign should be done routinely on examination to facilitate correct preoperative diagnosis. Loupe magnification should be used during operation for optimal surgical outcome. (Source: Journal of Orthopaedics, Trauma and Rehabilitation)
