Volar Dislocation of the Metacarpophalangeal Joint of the Ring Finger Complicated with Chondrolysis: A Case Report and Review of the Literature
Publication date: June 2017 Source:Journal of Orthopaedics, Trauma and Rehabilitation, Volume 22 Author(s): Kam Keung Lai, Yuen Fai Leung Volar dislocation of the metacarpophalangeal joint is rare injury. In the literature consulted only seven cases of isolated volar dislocation of the metacarpophalangeal joint of the ring finger have been published. Chondrolysis associated with the metacarpophalangeal joint dislocation has not been reported in the English literature. In this paper, an unusual case of volar dislocation of the metacarpophalangeal joint is presented and a review of the literature is described. (Source: J...

Radiation-Independent Distal Locking Screw Insertion Using Dual Nail Insertion Handle: Is it a Reliable Method?
Conclusion This technique is not reliable enough to replace the classic radiation-dependent free-hand technique. Further development of this idea is needed to get a perfect radiation-independent distal locking technique. (Source: Journal of Orthopaedics, Trauma and Rehabilitation)

A Novel Percutaneous Screw Fixation of Postero-lateral Tibial Plateau Fracture using Posterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction Femoral Template: Technical Note
We report a 76-year-old man suffering from a small joint depressed-type posterolateral tibial plateau fracture with surgical reduction and fixation with a novel guidance of posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) reconstruction femoral template under X-ray and arthroscopic assistance. The concept of sequential tunnel drilling in ligament reconstruction has been applied in bone impaction tunnel creation beneath the articular step with the PCL jig. Avoidance of multiple bone guide pin drilling and accurate guide pin insertion and hence screw fixation was also achieved by use of the PCL template. As illustrated, we believe that the...

Enchondroma of the Hand: Result of Surgery Curettage and Grafting and Possible Factors Affecting the Outcome
Publication date: June 2017 Source:Journal of Orthopaedics, Trauma and Rehabilitation, Volume 22 Author(s): Tycus Tse Tao Sun, Ip Fu Keung, Tak Chuen Wong, Priscilla Oi Yee Leung, Jennette Sze Yan Chan A retrospective review for enchondroma in the hand which had undergone operative treatment is presented. Twenty patients were treated operatively over a 10-year period. A total of 70% of the patients presented with pathological fracture. Enchondromas were most commonly located in the little finger (65%) and proximal phalange (60%). Enchondromas presented with pathological fractures and were treated definitively after ...

Tibial Tuberosity Avulsion Fracture and Patellar Tendon Avulsion: A  Case Report
Publication date: December 2016 Source:Journal of Orthopaedics, Trauma and Rehabilitation, Volume 21 Author(s): Diane Hei Yan Tai, Kin Bong Lee, Kwok Fai Wong A case with simultaneous tibial tuberosity fracture and patellar tendon avulsion in a 16-year-old boy is presented. Surgery was performed for open reduction, screw fixation and patellar tendon repair, and protected with a wire loop to restore the extensor mechanism. The wire loop was removed at 2 months postoperatively. The fracture healed at 5 months after surgery and the patient regained the full range of movement of the knee at 5 months.
