Recurrent thoracic cord compression due to extramedullary haematopoiesis in thalassaemic patients—A case presentation and literature review
We present a case of recurrent thoracic spinal cord compression caused by EMH in a 32-year-old thalassaemic Chinese man treated with surgical decompression and spinal stabilisation. The key to successful treatment is prompt diagnosis with early clinical suspicion, magnetic resonance imaging and individualised treatment for each patient. Surgical decompression provides immediate neural decompression while subsequent anaemia management may reduce the risk of recurrence. Femoral artery entrapment after cerclage wiring of distal femoral shaft fracture: A case report
We described a case of superficial femoral artery entrapment after internal fixation augmented with cerclage wire. An 80-year-old female underwent fixation with distal femur locking compression plate augmented with cerclage wire. Six hours after the operation, she developed pulseless limb and computed tomography angiogram showed femoral artery entrapped by cerclage wire. Concomitant orbital subperiosteal abscess, sinusitis, and septic arthritis of the hip in a normal healthy adolescent patient
We report a case of an otherwise healthy 12-year old boy, who developed an orbital subperiosteal abscess and paranasal sinusitis with concomitant septic arthritis of the left hip and osteomyelitis. We highlight the importance of repeat assessment of affected sites of infection, despite an overt, local infection of a primary site in an immunocompetent host. We report to you a case of isolated paralysis of EDC following the Thompson's approach in a 14-year-old boy who recovered completely on the 5th postoperative day.
