Abrogated cardio protective effect of ischemic preconditioning in hyperhomocysteinemia and hypertrophy
Publication date: Available online 1 July 2016 Source:Journal of Indian College of Cardiology Author(s): Shaiba Sana Qureshi, Ahsas Goyal Coronary heart disease has almost affected the mankind throughout history. During the last century, this disorder has emerged as a leading cause of death all over the world. Ischemia contributes in the development of myocardial infarction, stroke, peripheral vascular insufficiency and hypovolemic shock. Reperfusion enhances the tissue injury produced by ischemia alone. Value of the electrocardiographic strain pattern in children and adolescents with end stage renal disease
Conclusion Identification of ECG strain pattern is correlated with myocardial ischemia risk, so it could be helpful in risk stratification of children and adolescents with ESRD. Factors determining ECG strain are prolonged disease duration, increased LVM, higher TC, lower Hb and increased internal carotid velocity could become an important part of management of ESRD patients. Radial artery pseudoaneurysm
We report a rare complication of a patient who underwent angioplasty via radial access and developed a pseudo-aneurysm after 2 weeks. Ultrasound guided treatment failed and surgical correction was finally required to treat this complication. Only isolated cases of surgical correction of radial artery pseudo-aneurysm have been reported. (Source: Journal of Indian College of Cardiology)

Cardiac intervention in a nonagenarian – A 7-year follow-up: A case report
This article collected 20 nonagenarians who were proved to have significant coronary lesions. Of them, 2 were treated with CABG, 6 with medical treatment and 12 with PCI. For the 12 patients treated with PCI, a control group of 48 patients with ages younger than 90 years was collected from the same institution for comparison. On reading this article, it may be safe to conclude that age itself is not a limitation for adapting PCI to treat the elderly patient, whether he or she is 65 years old or 95 years old. But the associated conditions, including general condition, anatomic changes, co-morbid conditions, etc., should be ...
