Comparison of fresh and vitrification frozen–thawed embryo transfer cycles after rescue intracytoplasmic sperm injection: an analysis of patient outcomes
Objective: The aim of the study was to compare the clinical outcome of fresh and vitrification frozen–thawed embryo transfer (ET) cycles after rescue intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). Study design: We retrospectively analyzed 194 rescue ICSI cycles performed after total or near-total fertilization failure in conventional in-vitro fertilization (IVF) cycles. After rescue ICSI, fresh or frozen–thawed ET was performed. Patients and methods: According to the number (nf) of normal fertilizations (2PN) achieved using IVF before rescue ICSI was performed, the 194 rescue cycles were divided into three groups: group A (n...

Cruciate incision of the rectus sheath versus classical transverse incision as a modification of the Pfannenstiel–Kerr technique for cesarean section: a randomized clinical study
Conclusion: The cruciate incision of the rectus sheath as a modification of the classical Pfannenstiel–Kerr technique for cesarean section seems to involve less pain in the first 24 h. (Source: Journal of Evidence-Based Women’s Health Journal Society)

Does lidocaine 10% spray reduce pain during intrauterine contraceptive device insertion? a pilot randomized controlled clinical trial
Conclusion: Application of 20 mg of 10% lidocaine spray to the cervix 10 min before IUCD insertion is an effective way to decrease the pain associated with grasping and traction of the cervix with a tenaculum. (Source: Journal of Evidence-Based Women’s Health Journal Society)

Three-dimensional power Doppler ultrasound with a three-dimensional multislice view: is it a new modality in endometrial evaluation in women with postmenopausal bleeding?
Conclusion: Even though histopathological examination of the endometrium is the gold standard for the final diagnosis or exclusion of endometrial malignancy, EV, 3DPD indices, and 3D multislice view are good diagnostic tools in predicting endometrial malignancy in women with PMB. Comparison between squatting versus supine (lithotomy) positions during the passive second stage of labor without epidural anesthesia in nulliparous women: a prospective cohort study
Conclusion: The use of the squatting position in managing the second stage of labor results in less instrumental delivery, extension of episiotomy, perineal tear, and shoulder dystocia compared with the supine position. Both methods showed no statistically significant difference in terms of fetal well-being or the need for fetal resuscitation. (Source: Journal of Evidence-Based Women’s Health Journal Society)

Double marker test and uterine Doppler in cases with hyperemesis gravidarum
This study was conducted to evaluate the possible relationship between double marker test (serum β-hCG, PAPP-A) and uterine artery Doppler indices in cases with hyperemesis gravidarum at 11–13 weeks of gestation in 60 patients admitted to El-Shatby Maternity University Hospital. Patients and methods: Patients were divided into two groups: the study group included those diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidarum and the control group included those with normal uncomplicated first trimester pregnancy. Our study concluded that testing for serum levels of β-hCG and PAPP-A in cases of hyperemesis gravidarum showed insignificant ...

Uterine septum dissection using minihysteroscopy with bipotrode 5-Fr bipolar electrode versus monopolar resectoscopy with a unipolar knife: a randomized controlled study
Objective: The aim of this study was to compare the two procedures for uterine septum dissection: resectoscopy with monopolar knife versus small-diameter hysteroscopy fitted with a bipotrode 5 Fr reusable bipolar electrode. Design: This was a randomized controlled study. Setting: The study was conducted in a tertiary university fertility care unit. Main outcome measures: Operative parameters (the use of general anesthesia, cervical dilatation, operative time, volume of fluid used for uterine distention, complications, and need for reseptoplasty) and reproductive outcome parameters (pregnancy, abortion, preterm delivery, an...
