Ultrasonographic assessment of joint pathology in type 2 diabetes and hyperuricemia: The Fremantle diabetes study phase II
The prevalence and consequences (articular and extra-articular) of hyperuricemia in type 2 diabetes, especially when asymptomatic (ASH), are incompletely understood. The aim of this study was to use ultrasonography to assess pathology associated with monosodium urate deposition in the joints of well-characterized hyperuricemic patients with type 2 diabetes. Associations between advanced glycation endproducts and matrix metalloproteinases and its inhibitor in individuals with type 1 diabetes
Advanced glycation endproducts (AGEs) and altered extracellular matrix remodeling by matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase (TIMP) are associated with vascular complications in type 1 diabetes. Experimental studies have shown that AGEs regulate the production of MMPs and/or TIMP-1. Therefore, we investigated associations between specific AGEs and MMP-1, -2, -3, -9, and -10, and TIMP-1 in individuals with type 1 diabetes. (Source: Journal of Diabetes and Its Complications)

Heterogeneity in effects of genetically determined adiposity on insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes: The atherosclerosis risk in communities study
A recent genome-wide association study has identified 12 genetic variants robustly associated with body fat percentage (BF%) with diverse cardiometabolic consequences. We developed three genetic risk scores (GRSs) according to the associations of the 12 individual variants with type 2 diabetes (T2D) and test the GRSs' associations with insulin resistance and T2D in the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities Study. Differing Clinical Phenotype for Higher Alanine-Aminotransferase (ALT) Compared with High-Risk NAFLD Fibrosis Score in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
The impact of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) presence and severity on the diabetes phenotype remains unclear. Our study aimed to explore and contrast the phenotypes associated with higher ALT and high-risk NAFLD Fibrosis Score (NFS) in type 2 diabetes. (Source: Journal of Diabetes and Its Complications)

An overview of Type 2 Diabetes and Importance of Vitamin D3-vitamin D receptor interaction in Pancreatic β-cells
One significant health issue that plagues contemporary society is that of Type 2 diabetes (T2D). This disease is characterised by higher-than-average blood glucose levels as a result of a combination of insulin resistance and insufficient insulin secretions from the β-cells of pancreatic islets of Langerhans. Previous developmental research into the pancreas has identified how early precursor genes of pancreatic β-cells, such as Cpal, Ngn3, NeuroD, Ptf1a, and cMyc, play an essential role in the differentiation of these cells.
