Online learning versus blended learning of clinical supervisee skills with pre-registration nursing students: A randomised controlled trial
The World Health Organisation amongst others recognises the need for the introduction of clinical supervision education in health professional education as a central strategy for improving patient safety and patient care. Online and blended learning methods are growing exponentially in use in higher education and the systematic evaluation of these methods will aid understanding of how best to teach clinical supervision. What do nursing home residents with mental-physical multimorbidity need and who actually knows this? A cross-sectional cohort study
Aging societies will bring an increase in the number of long-term care residents with mental-physical multimorbidity. To optimize care for these residents, it is important to study their care needs, since unmet needs lower quality of life. To date, knowledge about care needs of residents with mental-physical multimorbidity is limited. The aim of this study was to explore (un)met care needs of residents with mental-physical multimorbidity and determinants of unmet needs. (Source: International Journal of Nursing Studies)

Facilitation of an end-of-life care programme into practice within UK nursing care homes: A mixed-methods study
The predicted demographic changes internationally have implications for the nature of care that older people receive and place of care as they age. Healthcare policy now promotes the implementation of end-of-life care interventions to improve care delivery within different settings. The Gold Standards Framework in Care Homes (GSFCH) programme is one end-of-life care initiative recommended by the English Department of Health. Only a small number of care homes that start the programme complete it, which raises questions about the implementation process. (Source: International Journal of Nursing Studies)

Dietary interventions for adults with chronic kidney disease
Dietary change and nutritional management are cornerstones of care for patients with kidney disease, at all stages, from diagnosis and early management to end-stage kidney failure, dialysis or transplant (Palmer et al., 2017). Given some studies indicate kidney failure effects between 10 and 15% of the world ’s population, knowing the current best evidence on dietary interventions for adults with chronic kidney disease is both important and central to the provision of good quality, evidence-informed care. Oscillating devices for airway clearance in people with cystic fibrosis
Cystic fibrosis is a hereditary disorder, which causes hypersecretion of respiratory mucus. Chronic chest infections and airway inflammation leads to decreased respiratory function and early death. Chest physiotherapy is routinely applied to clear the airways of mucus for people with cystic fibrosis. Currently, chest physiotherapy is started at initial diagnosis. Depending on the age of the individual, chest physiotherapy traditionally involves manual therapies, which requires another person to perform the techniques of percussion and vibrations, with the addition of postural drainage when necessary.
