Adolescents ’ experiences of living with sickle cell disease: An integrative narrative review of the literature
Sickle Cell Disease is the commonest monogenic haemoglobinopathy worldwide. Living with a long-term condition such as sickle cell disease during adolescence constitutes a significant challenge for the key stakeholders due to the combined effects of chronic illness and adolescent development. Empty promises. What will Brexit really mean for nurses and the British National Health Service?
“The UK is leaving the European Union”. Readers in the UK will have heard these words many times as they are one of Prime Minister Theresa May’s handful of sayings when asked to explain Brexit, along with “Brexit means Brexit” and Brexit will be red, white, and blue”. Each statement leav es listeners searching for meaning, not helped by seeming contradictions in what is said to different audiences (Mardell, 2016). The Prime Minister is under enormous pressure simultaneously to demonstrate her command of authority while maintaining the maximum degree of ambiguity.
