Predictors of change in social networks, support and satisfaction following a first episode psychosis: a cohort study
Diminished social networks are common in psychosis but few studies have measured these comprehensively and prospectively to determine how networks and support evolve during the early phase. There is little information regarding perceived support in the early phase of illness. The aim of this study was to describe social support, networks and perceived satisfaction, explore the clinical correlates of these outcomes and examine whether phases of untreated psychosis are linked with social network variables to determine potential opportunities for intervention. How people from ethnic minorities describe their experiences of managing type-2 diabetes mellitus: A qualitative meta-synthesis
The increasing prevalence of diabetes is well-documented along with the findings that some ethnic minorities have a higher prevalence than non-minority individuals. Along with possible biological differences between ethnicities, access to economic, social, cultural and symbolic capital may impact on the success of managing type-2 diabetes. Nurse-led immunotreatment DEcision Coaching In people with Multiple Sclerosis (DECIMS) – Feasibility testing, pilot randomised controlled trial and mixed methods process evaluation
Treatment decision-making is complex for people with multiple sclerosis. Profound information on available options is virtually not possible in regular neurologist encounters. The “nurse decision coach model” was developed to redistribute health professionals’ tasks in supporting immunotreatment decision-making following the principles of informed shared decision-making. Post-operative mortality, missed care and nurse staffing in nine countries: A cross-sectional study
Variation in post-operative mortality rates has been associated with differences in registered nurse staffing levels. When nurse staffing levels are lower there is also a higher incidence of necessary but missed nursing care. Missed nursing care may be a significant predictor of patient mortality following surgery. Do nurses ’ personal health behaviours impact on their health promotion practice? A systematic review
There is a growing expectation in national and international policy and from professional bodies that nurses be role models for healthy behaviours, the rationale being that there is a relationship between nurses ’ personal health and the adoption of healthier behaviours by patients. This may be from patients being motivated by, and modelling, the visible healthy lifestyle of the nurse or that nurses are more willing to promote the health of their patients by offering public health or health promotion advi ce and referring the patient to support services. Nurses ’ personal and ward accountability and missed nursing care: A cross-sectional study
Missed nursing care is considered an act of omission with potentially detrimental consequences for patients, nurses, and organizations. Although the theoretical conceptualization of missed nursing care specifies nurses ’ values, attitudes, and perceptions of their work environment as its core antecedents, empirical studies have mainly focused on nurses’ socio-demographic and professional attributes. Furthermore, assessment of missed nursing care has been mainly based on same-source methods. (Source: International Journal of Nursing Studies)

What works in delivering dementia education or training to hospital staff? A critical synthesis of the evidence
The quality of care delivered to people with dementia in hospital settings is of international concern. People with dementia occupy up to one quarter of acute hospital beds, however, staff working in hospitals report lack of knowledge and skills in caring for this group.
