The impact of emotional intelligence in health care professionals on caring behaviour towards patients in clinical and long-term care settings: Findings from an integrative review
Over recent years there has been criticism within the United Kingdom ’s health service regarding a lack of care and compassion, resulting in adverse outcomes for patients. The impact of emotional intelligence in staff on patient health care outcomes has been recently highlighted. Many recruiters now assess emotional intelligence as part of their selection process f or health care staff. However, it has been argued that the importance of emotional intelligence in health care has been overestimated. (Source: International Journal of Nursing Studies)

The role of telenursing in the management of Diabetes Type 1: A randomized controlled trial
Diabetes Mellitus type 1 (T1DM) is a chronic disease that requires patients ’ self-monitoring and self-management to achieve glucose targets and prevent complications. Telenursing implicates technology in the interaction of a specialized nurse with patients with chronic diseases in order to provide personalized care and support. Barriers and facilitators to preventing pressure ulcers in nursing home residents: A qualitative analysis informed by the Theoretical Domains Framework
Pressure ulcers are areas of localised damage to the skin and underlying tissue; and can cause pain, immobility, infections and delay recovery, impacting on health-related quality of life. The individuals who are most at risk of developing a pressure ulcer are those who are seriously ill, elderly, have impaired mobility and/or poor nutrition; thus, many nursing home residents are at risk. Relationship between nurse staffing level and adult nursing-sensitive outcomes in tertiary hospitals of Korea: Retrospective observational study
Nurse staffing level is an important factor on nursing sensitive outcome. The relationships of nurse staffing level with nursing sensitive outcomes such as mortality, upper gastrointestinal bleeding and pressure ulcer have been explored in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Lower level of hospital nurse staffing seems associated with more adverse outcomes, especially mortality. However, there is insufficient evidence of the nurse staffing level-outcome relationship in other indicators. (Source: International Journal of Nursing Studies)

The inclusion of retracted studies in systematic reviews: A response to Gray et al. (2018)
I read with interest a recent letter in your journal by Gray et al. (2018) regarding the inclusion of retracted studies in systematic reviews (SR), focusing on nursing literature. They found that 37 nursing SR contained a citation to a retracted publication, of which only 23 were studies included in the SR as opposed to references in the background or discussion. Of interest, they found that five SR that included a retracted study were published in a year subsequent to the year of retraction. However, the numbers are very small, and any claims at generalizability would appear far-fetched. (Source: International Journal of Nursing Studies)
