Recovery from rocuronium with sugammadex in children premedicated with dexamethasone for prevention of postoperative nausea and vomiting
Conclusions The present study demonstrated that the interaction between sugammadex and dexamethasone may have a clinical effect on the duration of reversal of rocuronium. (Source: Egyptian Journal of Anaesthesia)

Effect of intravenous magnesium sulphate or dexamethasone as adjuvants to sevoflurane anesthesia to prevent delirium during primary cleft palate repair, controlled randomized blind study
Conclusion Co-administration of intravenous magnesium sulphate or dexamethasone with to sevoflurane anesthesia during primary cleft palate repair provides more vital hemodynamic state and decrease in postoperative vomiting and delirium when compared with control group. Monitoring of plethysmography variability index and total hemoglobin levels during cesarean sections with antepartum hemorrhage for early detection of bleeding
Conclusion Plethysmography variability index and non invasive hemoglobin monitoring as well can be used for optimization of intravascular volume status during cesarean sections in parturients with antepartum hemorrhage. (Source: Egyptian Journal of Anaesthesia)

Evaluation of effect of intravenous Magnesium Sulfate infusion on tourniquet induced hypertension and pain in arthroscopic knee surgery patients under epidural anesthesia
Conclusion In patients undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery under epidural anesthesia, IV magnesium sulfate in a dose of 30 mg/kg, followed by 10 mg/kg/h infused before tourniquet inflation could reduce TIH, and tourniquet pain with reduction in intraoperative IV fentanyl and postoperative pethidine requirements. Efficacy of different size Quincke spinal needles in reduction of incidence of Post-Dural Puncture Headache (PDPH) in Caesarean Section (CS). Randomized controlled study
Conclusion: Spinal anaesthesia with a 29G needle reduced the incidence of PDPH in elective CS to 0%. However, it is significantly more time consuming to give spinal anaesthesia with 29G needle than with the other needles. (Source: Egyptian Journal of Anaesthesia)

Minimum effective volume of bupivacaine in spinal anesthesia for elective cesarean section. Does it differ with height? A non-randomized parallel study
Conclusion The volumes of hyperbaric 0.5% bupivacaine with fentanyl which produced effective spinal block in 90% of parturients undergoing cesarean deliveries were 2.62, 2.76 and 2.8ml in the 3 different height groups respectively. (Source: Egyptian Journal of Anaesthesia)

Bougie assisted endotracheal intubation using the Air-Q ™ Intubating Laryngeal Airway: A prospective randomized clinical study
Conclusion Bougie guided tracheal intubation through air-Q™ didn’t improve overall success rate with significant longer time, hemodynamic derangement and traumatic sequelae. (Source: Egyptian Journal of Anaesthesia)

Effect of single dose intraoperative IV acetaminophen in pediatric tonsillectomy or adenotonsillectomy
Conclusion Intraoperative intravenous acetaminophen may lead to improved pain scores in the early postoperative period and decreased time in the recovery room, but this group also had a longer hospital stay. This information should instigate randomized controlled trials of this intervention. (Source: Egyptian Journal of Anaesthesia)

Anesthetic techniques and haemodynamic control for Endoscopic Sinus Surgery: A retrospective analysis and review of literature
Conclusion Inhaled anesthesia is the preferred maintenance technique used for ESS. The desired MAP range was achieved in about 75% of the cases without needing anti hypertensives. Use of remifentanil reduces the MAP and HR further which might potentially improve the quality of surgical field and the outcome. (Source: Egyptian Journal of Anaesthesia)

Dexmedetomidine versus Nalbuphine for treatment of postspinal shivering in patients undergoing vaginal hysterectomy: A randomized, double blind, controlled study
Conclusion Both Nalbuphine and Dexmedetomidine control shivering effectively, but Dexmedetomidine seems to be a better choice than Nalbuphine for treatment of postspinal shivering due to its shorter response time, lower recurrence rate and associated sedation. Meanwhile, Nalbuphine offers more hemodynamic stability and lower costs. (Source: Egyptian Journal of Anaesthesia)

Efficacy of combined ultrasound guided anterior and posterior rectus sheath block for postoperative analgesia following umbilical hernia repair: Randomized, controlled trial
Conclusion Addition of ultrasound anterior rectus sheath block together with posterior rectus sheath block added more significant analgesia than if we perform posterior rectus sheath alone. This was evidenced by decrease in Intraoperative rescue fentanyl, PACU morphine analgesia, 24h morphine and pain assessment score. (Source: Egyptian Journal of Anaesthesia)

Comparative study between magnesium sulphate and L-hyoscyamine on duodenal motility during ERCP under general anaesthesia: A prospective randomized study
Conclusion Magnesium sulphate is a safe spasmolytic agent during general anaesthesia that improves the success rate of ERCP and it allows easy completion of the procedure by decreasing the duodenal motility. It decreases the duration of the procedure, subsequently shortens the period of anaesthesia and improves post procedure recovery. It reduces post ERCP pancreatitis, nausea and vomiting.
