Atypical dermoscopic findings in patients diagnosed with lichen planus by histological examination
Conclusion In this study, we emphasize the role of dermoscopy for identification of the clinical status of LP and its correlation to the results of histopathologic examinations. In addition to the typical dermoscopic patterns, dermoscopic recognition of variation in the morphology of LP could aid in the diagnosis of LP prior to histopathologic evaluation. Environmental exogenous factors and facial dermatitis: A case control study
Conclusions Contact factors play an important role in facial dermatitis. Aggravation by sunlight exposure, ingestion of spicy food, or alcohol are more reported in facial dermatitis compared with nonfacial dermatitis. (Source: Dermatologica Sinica)

Association between insulin resistance and serum and salivary irisin levels in patients with psoriasis vulgaris
Conclusion This is the first study evaluating irisin levels in patients with psoriasis vulgaris in the literature. The results of our study show that serum and salivary irisin levels were significantly lower in the patient group when compared with the control group. Irisin levels in patients with severe psoriasis were low, suggesting that irisin may have a role in the pathogenesis of psoriasis and may be a marker showing the severity of psoriasis, which could warn us against the development of insulin resistance and diabetes mellitus. Metastatic squamous cell carcinoma arising from a serious widespread porokeratotic eccrine ostial and dermal duct nevus: Case report and literature review
Publication date: Available online 25 November 2016 Source:Dermatologica Sinica Author(s): Xiangang Fang, Huixian Li, Lankai Yi, Jiayou Xu, Xinbo Wang, Yunxiang Zhang, Zhenhua Wang Porokeratotic eccrine ostial and dermal duct nevus (PEODDN) is a rare benign skin disease. Widespread involvement of PEODDN is more uncommon and its association with squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is also rare. In this case report, we present the case of a 50-year-old woman with serious widespread PEODDN along Blaschko's lines and concomitant invasive SCC with lymph node metastasis. This was the first reported case of metastatic SCC aris...

Comparison of the efficacy and safety of 0.1% tacrolimus ointment and 0.1% mometasone furoate cream for adult vitiligo: A single-blinded pilot study
This study compared the efficacy and safety of 0.1% tacrolimus ointment with 0.1% mometasone furoate cream in adult vitiligo. We enrolled patients with symmetrical, nonacral vitiligo, and the patients on each side were randomized to receive either 0.1% tacrolimus ointment or 0.1% mometasone furoate cream, applied twice daily for 6 months. Repigmentation outcome at 6 months was compared with baseline. Of 18 cases, 22% and 33% in tacrolimus and mometasone groups, respectively, displayed more than 50% repigmentation (p > 0.05). Telangiectasia was presented in one-third of cases on the mometasone-treated side. Both ...

Analysis of human leukocyte antigen genotypes in pemphigus with antidesmoglein antibody profile shift
In this study, we examined human leukocyte antigen (HLA) genotypes of four pemphigus patients who presented with the phenotypic transition and/or antibody profile shift. Two out of four patients possessed a DRB1*0405-DQB1*0401, and two out of four patients possessed a DRB1*1405-DQB1*0503. These alleles might be associated with the development of phenotypic transition and antibody profile shift. (Source: Dermatologica Sinica)

A rheumatoid arthritis patient with chronic recurrent annular neutrophilic dermatosis: Are we dealing with a new type of rheumatoid arthritis-associated dermatosis?
We describe a 75-year-old man with rheumatoid arthritis, who presented with erythematous edematous plaques. The histopathological findings indicated neutrophilic dermatosis; however, the patient was afebrile and without an elevated white blood cell count or systemic involvement. We think that the most suitable expression for this variant with clinical manifestations different from those of classical Sweet syndrome is “chronic recurrent annular neutrophilic dermatosis,” as introduced by Christensen et al. 1 (Source: Dermatologica Sinica)
