Purpuric halo around hemangioma as a clue for primary systemic amyloidosis: Case report and review of literature
We reported a case of systemic AL amyloidosis who was initially presented as a solitary hemangioma with a purpuric halo. Excisional biopsy revealed a hemangioma with amyloid deposited in thickened vascular walls. Systemic AL amyloidosis was diagnosed after thorough survey. The stage of disease at the time of initial treatment is the greatest prognostic factor. To our knowledge, this is the first case of systemic AL amyloidosis initially presented as a purpuric halo around hemangioma in Taiwan. This target-like lesion should be linked to systemic AL amyloidosis and early diagnosis is extraordinary important. (Source: Dermatologica Sinica)

Cutaneous lymphomas in Taiwan: A review of 118 cases from a medical center in southern Taiwan
ConclusionCompared to other larger Western and Asian series of primary CLs, our series showed higher proportions of CTCLs and MF. Over 80% of MF was early MF, a finding consistent with the trend in early diagnosis of MF in recent decades. A nation-wide study is warranted to further characterize CLs in Taiwan. Diagnostic accuracy measures for vertical and transverse scalp biopsies in cicatricial and non-cicatricial alopecias
ConclusionsThe accurate diagnosis of alopecia requires both vertical and transverse section examination. Techniques providing both horizontal and vertical sections may be best suited for this indication. However, when expertise in such novel techniques are lacking, the higher diagnostic accuracy for T section justifies using T section for noncicatricial alopecia, if patient consented for single biopsy. Fever, eosinophilia, and abnormal liver function are early signs suggestive of DRESS: A comparative study between DRESS and MPE
ConclusionAlthough DRESS and MPE look similar, especially in the early stage of DRESS, the concurrence of fever, peripheral blood eosinophilia, and abnormal liver functions within three days of visiting a medical facility might aid in the early diagnosis of DRESS. (Source: Dermatologica Sinica)
