Quality of Life of Patients with Hypertension and Treatment Compliance
Conclusion The research suggests that antihypertensive therapy as a whole is noted for a low level of compliance. This, in turn, leads to insufficient control of arterial hypertension and results in a decrease in quality of life. (Source: Australasian Medical Journal - AMJ)

Huge retrorectal cystic teratoma mimicking menengitis
We present a case of a 39-year-old male patient with mature cystic teratoma presenting with repeated episodes of meningitis. He presented to our emergency department with complaints of fever, headache and vomiting since 15 days. He was treated for initial diagnosis as tuberculosis meningitis by a specialist of infection disease with antibiotics after a CSF study which was culture negative. Since he had recurrent meningitis, radiological investigations revealed by suggested it to be a retrorectal mature cyst 20cm in diameter which may be related with the cerebrospinal fluid. He underwent a total cyst excision of the lesion ...

Our Surgical Experience in Desmoid Tumors
Conclusion Surgical resection in which a sufficient amount of surrounding healthy tissue is removed together with the tumour provides an effective treatment. We believe that, for those tumours which cannot be resected or incompletely resected, addition of Tamoxifen to the therapy will provide favourable results for regression. The South African traditional health practitioner as a beneficiary of and provider to medical funds and schemes through the Traditional Health Practitioners Act (Act No 22, 2007)
Conclusion The implications of Section 42(2) of the Traditional Health Practitioners Act (No 22, 2007) which aims to set up a claiming process for traditional health practitioners, seems to be very problematic. The fact that Act No 22 (2007) has not been enacted properly nine years after its promulgation has put a halt on the professionalization of traditional healers until 2015. This also affected their status as a beneficiary of and service provider to the various medical funds and schemes. At present there seems to be no clear and justified reason why the South African traditional health practitioner cannot be accepted ...

Serodiagnosis of Human Leptospirosis by Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA)
Conclusion E LISA IgM and SAT seem to be useful for human leptospirosis; they can detect the disease from the 5th day of the illness. They are easy, inexpensive and useful for developing countries and less equipped laboratories. However, if the first sera was negative, the second sera should obtained in the seco nd week, or PCR used in combination with serological tests if it is available. Micronutrients in Chilean Inflammatory Bowel disease patients: Cross sectional study

Severe leptospirosis and secondary hemophagocytic syndrome: A rare case from Indian subcontinent
We report a case of a 40 year old male with severe leptospirosis and secondary hemophagocytosis who presented to us with high grade fever and jaundice and later was complicated by multi organ dysfunction and death despite aggressive management. Our case highlights leptospirosis as a rare cause of HPS. A high index of clinical suspicion and prompt treatment for HPS in patients with severe leptospirosis with progressive multi-organ dysfunction despite antimicrobial therapy, is very important as the condition otherwise carries a very high mortality.
