The Danger of Chlorhexidine in Lignocaine Gel
This article describes a case of anaphylaxis secondary to chlorhexidine during urethral catheterisation. Despite little evidence for the use of antiseptic lubricants in preventing catheter-associated urinary tract infections, the distribution and use of such products continues to be widespread. Chlorhexidine-free lubricating gel is widely available and should be used for urological procedures wherever possible. (Source: Australasian Medical Journal - AMJ)

Low back pain outcomes: injury claim and benefit status
Conclusion Findings indicate individuals with accepted ACC claims for LBP have significantly better outcomes than those without, and patients on benefits with no accepted ACC claim for LBP have even poorer outcomes. (Source: Australasian Medical Journal - AMJ)

A new hope for treatment against C. difficile
Clostridium difficile infection (CDI) is a potential life-threatening consequence of antibiotic therapy. Although the risk increases with duration of treatment, it can also occur after a short treatment course. In addition to broad-spectrum antibiotics, anti-neoplastic agents, proton pump inhibitors, H2 blockers, and several other drugs have been reported to induce intestinal dysbiosis, which is central to the pathogenesis of CDI. There is an increase in incidence and mortality attributed to CDI globally. Moreover, the epidemiology of C. difficile -associated diseases has changed significantly with an increasing occurren...

Small bowel Sarcoma: A rare case report
Sarcoma of the small bowel is an extremely rare type of small bowel malignancy and represents around 10 per cent of small bowel cancers. Usually asymptomatic, patients can present with chronic abdominal distention with pain and/or weight loss. Most pathologists now refer to small bowel sarcomas (SBS) as gastrointestinal stromal tumours as they are mesenchymal neoplasms believed to be derived from the interstitial cells of Cajal in the gastrointestinal tract. SBS can be highly vascular and commonly ulcerate and/or bleed. They tend to be aggressive and have a poor prognosis. Surgery is the treatment of choice for SBS, with d...

Healthcare inequality in Brazil
Conclusion This study has shown that access to the University Hospital in Brasilia is not equitable when individual access to private healthcare is accounted for. The results show that dual access to both public and private healthcare is likely to be common, increasing some of the population’s access to healthcare while decreasing access for others, and therefore contributing to inequity of access to healthcare services. Vascular Disease Burden and Dementia
Conclusion People with moderate to severe dementia have a significantly higher vascular disease burden; therefore, higher vascular disease burden may be considered as a poor prognostic marker in vascular dementia. Subjects with vascular dementia and their caregivers must manage cognitive impairment and ADL alongside managing serious comorbid vascular diseases that may worsen the dementia. Skull fractures: CT scans versus autopsies
Conclusion In developing countries, images are interpreted in the axial plane only on a CT scan of the head, which may be due to a lack of financial and human resources. For better delineation of fractures, the use of techniques like multi- detector CT with sagittal and coronal reformations should be considered in the routine interpretation of a CT scan of the head.
