Prevalence and risk factors of hepatitis D virus infection in patients with chronic hepatitis B infection attending the three main tertiary hospitals in Libya
ConclusionAlthough the study demonstrated that Libya has low to moderate prevalence of HDV (2,5%), it is important for policy makers and health care providers to continue the preventive measures for HDV spread, and HBV prevention program including utilization of HBV vaccine. Furthermore, it is imperative to screen chronic HBV patients for HDV for close observation for early diagnosis of subsequent development of liver cirrhosis. Moreover, further epidemiologic and genetic studies are needed to explore the trend for HDV infection in Libya. (Source: Arab Journal of Gastroenterology)

Simple classifiers for molecular subtypes of colorectal cancer
ConclusionThere is still a need for a consensus gene expression-based subtyping classification system for CRCs, thereby allowing the categorization of most CRC tumours. This study reveals that a simple and rapidly accessible process could replace the complicated, costly and mostly inapproachable methods clinical practices that have been introduced in the majority of previous studies. Systematic gastric biopsy in iron deficiency anaemia
ConclusionIntestinal metaplasia was frequently observed and was mostly related to Helicobacter pylori infection. These patients require monitoring, especially if they are young because it represents a pre neoplastic condition. However, in our study autoimmune gastritis often described in the literature in case of iron deficiency anaemia was rarely seen raising the question of relative cost-efficiency of fundic biopsies during iron deficiency anaemia. Dendritic cell-based cancer immunotherapy for pancreatic cancer
Publication date: March 2018Source: Arab Journal of Gastroenterology, Volume 19, Issue 1Author(s): Wei Li, Xiujun Song, Huijie Yu, Manze Zhang, Fengsheng Li, Cheng Cao, Qisheng JiangAbstractPancreatic cancer (PC) is a lethal disease and remains one of the most resistant cancers to traditional therapies. New therapeutic modalities are urgently needed, particularly immunotherapy, which has shown promise in numerous animal model studies. Dendritic cell (DC)-based immunotherapy has been used in clinical trials for various cancers, including PC, because DCs are the most potent antigen-presenting cell (APC), which are capable of...
