Competitive exercise-induced urinary incontinence in adolescent female: aware and prepare!
Pelvic floor stress from physical exercise can contribute to urinary incontinence. This entity, though well described in adult female athletes, has not been described in adolescent female athletes. Significant stress urinary incontinence can be a major cause of social embarrassment and withdrawal from an active lifestyle. Lack of awareness amongst physicians and physical trainers can lead to unnecessary investigations and unchecked provocative exercises, thereby further weakening the pelvic floor muscles of growing girls in the long run. Adequate awareness of the condition, and preparedness with symptom management strategi...

A new approach on treatment of esophageal atresia: uniportal vats for surgical repair – a report of two cases
Esophageal atresia is a rare congenital malformation affecting one in every 3500 live births. Treatment consists in surgical ligation of the fistula and esophageal anastomosis of the two pouches by conventional thoracotomy or by thoracoscopic approach. In recent years, uniportal video-assisted thoracic surgery has been a revolution in thoracic surgery but it had never been used for treatment of congenital pathologies like esophageal atresia. We have used this technique for the treatment of two newborns with this condition. We made a reparation with fistula ligation and end-to-end anastomosis, video-assisted using one only ...

Successful intralesional bleomycin injections for the management of a huge life-threatening cervical lymphangioma in a 3-day-old neonate
Intralesional bleomycin injections (IBI) for the management of a huge life-threatening cervical cystic hygroma is superior to surgery. Surgery has a high rate of morbidity and even mortality. Recurrence and injury to major vessels, nerves, and lymphatics may be unavoidable. The authors report on a 3-day-old male infant who was diagnosed antenatally as a case of a huge cervical cystic hygroma. Postnatally, the patient required mechanical ventilation. The patient was treated successfully with IBI without complications. To our knowledge, this is the youngest case presenting acutely to be treated successfully with IBI without ...

Atypical presentation and management of a subungual glomus tumor in the pediatric population: a case report
The glomus tumor is a rare vascular neoplasm that accounts for less than 2% of all soft tissue tumors of the hand. This is the first case study to describe the presentation and curative resection of a subungual glomus tumor in the pediatric population. The glomus tumor is classically described as a solitary subungual mass in women aged 30–50 who present with the triad of pain, temperature sensitivity, and point tenderness. However, given an infrequent and inconsistent presentation, the typical time from onset of symptoms to the correct diagnosis is 7 years, resulting in significant functional and cosmetic morbidity for p...
