Jury Duty Again
It's been five years since the last time I received a summons for jury service, which is pretty good because my average is once every three years, if I'm counting both state and federal courts. I don't understand why I keep getting called. A couple of months ago, we were part of a group of 6 people having dinner, all longtime county residents, all registered voters and all licensed drivers. Same-sex Marriage Passed in Illinois House
The bill goes to the senate where passage is certain because the senate already approved same-sex marriage. They just need to change the effective date. A Tuesday Story
A friend's daughter, I'll call her Ms. N, was getting all A's in a course until a recent quiz. She scored an 88, but the prof phoned her and told her that she and another student were getting zeros because they handed in quizzes with identical answers, both including an unusual error. He rationalized that giving zeros to both students would be acceptable because one student was a cheater and the other probably allowed the cheating. Is cheating usually assisted?... These people are obnoxious. They do webpages, SEO and web marketing work. I was called by one of their sales reps twice this week and, in the second call, the sales person sounded as if she was ordering me to call back. Excuse me? Here's someone writing back in March about the pests at Yodle. It appears that Yodle is heavily targeting mental health practitioners for new business.
