Sunday Notes
A Chicago pediatric neurologist faces sentencing after admitting to trading prescription drugs for sex. Geez. Why not just pay for sex the old fashioned way... with cash. Hawaii may change a law that lets police have sex with prostitutes they're trying to bust, but Police complain that they must be permitted to have sex with the prostitutes. NSA has been mucking around in a Chinese telecom giant's servers. He's unwilling to grant his wife a religious divorce, but this creep... (Source: Dr. X's Free Associations)

Friday Randomous
I saw Carol Marin at a Starbucks again this week. She must live in the neighborhood. Funny, a year or two ago, I would see Jerry Springer almost every day at Starbucks. Haven't seen any other Chicago TV or journo people at Starbucks, but it's funny that I've seen these two repeatedly because Marin and Springer have a history, and it isn't pretty. Maybe they could use a coffee summit. Just kidding. Springer long ago ceased to be a respectable... (Source: Dr. X's Free Associations)

Oops!
As I was passing a woman who was walking her dog, she pointed toward the wreck: Woman: That looks like a nasty accident. Me: Yeah. Her: Wait! That's my car! Evidently, the driver of the bus fell asleep at the wheel. One person left in an ambulance. They'd been headed toward the hospital, though the ER was probably not their originally intended destination. (Source: Dr. X's Free Associations)

The Step Dancers Are Late
I'm not a big fan of parades or St. Patrick's Day revelry, but it does offer photo ops. Unfortunately, I had to work far from home on Saturday. This photo is from 2011. (Source: Dr. X's Free Associations)

The GM Ignition Problem
The Tribune: As details emerge about how General Motors Co. dealt with faulty ignition switches in some of its models, car owners are increasingly angry after learning that the automaker knowingly allowed them to drive defective vehicles. [...] Saturn Ion owner Nancy Bowman of Washington, Mich., said she is outraged GM allowed her to drive a "death trap." She said her car had so many ignition problems she was afraid to resell it to an innocent buyer. "Five times the... (Source: Dr. X's Free Associations)

And They Wonder Why Chicago Police Have A Bad Reputation
CBS Local: An upsurge in heroin deaths means all Lombard, IL, police will begin carrying Narcan misters to counter the effects of heroin overdoses. Second City Cop reacts: One question comes to mind -- why? Why bother at all? Junkies contribute to all sorts of crime. They carry diseases. When apprehended, they suck up tax dollars for their incarceration and when released, they relapse at an incredible rate. Like it or not, an overdose is a net positive for society. Kevin Trudeau Begs Federal Judge For Mercy. He Should be Given None
NBC: Convicted TV pitchman Kevin Trudeau has written a letter to the judge who found him in civil contempt, begging him to intercede with a fellow judge, when he is sentenced next week. Insisting that he is humbled, desperate, and changed man, Trudeau reminded Judge Robert Gettleman that when he sent the case to fellow Judge Ronald Guzman for trial, he recommended a maximum punishment of 6 months in prison. This week, the government filed a motion, asking that Trudeau... (Source: Dr. X's Free Associations)

Various
Not that I haven't had a number of thoughts I'd like to share, but the posts I've had in mind would require more time than I've had available recently. The first obstacle is that I've been very busy with a work project for the last six weeks, writing many reports. My other challenge is something I haven't discussed before. Writing has become more of a labor for me over the years. I've always taken a great deal of time to... (Source: Dr. X's Free Associations)
