The EMBASE screening project: six months old and going strong
The EMBASE screening project went live in February 2014 with a very small group of screeners just to make sure things were working well. After a couple of weeks of testing and tweaking, the full roll-out began with some key Cochrane communications. Within a matter of days more than 100 people signed up to become EMBASE screeners. As of August 2014, 563 people have signed up to the EMBASE screening project, and the team has collectively screened 65761 citations and identified 1944 RCTs. Cochrane announces support of new donor
Cochrane is delighted to announce the support of a new donor – Good Ventures, a US-based philanthropic foundation.  In a statement published on its website on 29 July, Good Ventures announced the award of a $300,000 grant for general support purposes ($100,000 a year over three years), citing Cochrane’s work as an important resource in evaluating the work of evidence-backed charities which serve disadvantaged populations worldwide. Longtime Cochrane contributor receives lifetime achievement award
Dr Kay Dickersin, Director of the US Cochrane Center, has received the 2014 Ingram Olkin Award for her 'lifetime contributorion to the development of evidence synthesis methods'. Dr Dickersin is Director for the Center for Clinical Trials at Johns Hopkins University and a longtime contributor to The Cochrane Collaboration.
