Using evidence in global public health policy: the WHO-Cochrane partnership
Cochrane is an NGO in official relations with the World Health Organization (WHO) since 2011. In July, we reported on some of the results of this partnership. Alpha, Beta, Meta...Problems with power, precision, and type 1 error protection in meta-analysis
Power estimates in meta-analysis were discussed in the methods debate at the recent Cochrane Colloquium in Vienna, featuring Ian Roberts and Jos Verbeek, and prompted a lively discussion. CERQual: A new approach for supporting the use of qualitative evidence in decision making
A new paper published in PLoS Medicine this week describes an innovative and transparent approach for assessing how much confidence to place in findings from qualitative evidence syntheses.The new approach, known as CERQual (‘Confidence in the Evidence from Reviews of Qualitative research’), is designed to help decision makers use qualitative evidence for decisions and policies about healthcare and social welfare. Announcing the establishment of Cochrane Collaborating Centre of Madrid
On October 22nd the Francisco de Vitoria University hosted the presentation of the Cochrane Collaborating Centre of the Region of Madrid (CCC-CAM in Spanish). The support of the Ramón y Cajal Institute remains and will be now complemented by the Francisco de Vitoria University, which will replace the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos in this institutional support.The event held several lectures by Javier Zamora Romero, Carlos Martín Saborido and Xavier Bonfill and a workshop conducted by the current coordinator of the CCC-CAM, Nieves Plana.
