ClinicalTrials.gov Unfrozen During Shutdown
NIH officials have responded to concerns about the government shutdown’s affect on ClinicalTrials.gov. When the government shutdown occured  the site was on-line, but could not accept new trial registrations. According to a Boston-Globe article on Thursday, NLM employees who support the site were “un-furloughed” and new registrations are now being processed. The announcement on the site now reads: “ClinicalTrials.gov is open, however it is being maintained with minimal staffing due to the lapse in government funding. Funding: – EFTS Award for DOCLINE Users Not Currently Enrolled in the Program – Apply Online!
The MidContinental Region (MCR) is offering $150 in start-up funding for  the Electronic Funds Transfer System (EFTS) to each MCR library using DOCLINE but not currently participating in the EFTS program.  EFTS is used by health sciences libraries for processing payment of inter-library loan transactions.   Benefits include reduced costs,  minimizes human error, reduced paperwork and  increases efficiency.  More information on the program is here. Comments Solicited on Genomic Data Sharing Policy Draft

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is seeking public comments on the draft Genomic Data Sharing (GDS) Policy that promotes sharing, for research purposes, of large-scale human and nonhuman genomic1data generated from NIH-supported and NIH-conducted research. Viewpoint on Libraries and Librarians in JAMA
JAMA published the viewpoint article “The Evolving Role and Value of Libraries and Librarians in Health Care” in its Sept 25th issue.
