It is only fair: blood donors are more sensitive to violations of fairness norms than nondonors – converging psychometric and ultimatum game evidence
ConclusionBlood donors have a heightened sensitivity to unfairness violations. This indicates a very clear and specific line for the development of interventions that align fairness, self‐interest and reciprocity, for example voluntary reciprocal altruism (VRA). We also highlight the importance of establishing intervention development within a clinical trials model and emphasize why experimental work of this type is vital. (Source: Vox Sanguinis)

Day or overnight transfusion in critically ill patients: does it matter?
ConclusionTransfusion occurs evenly across day and night in ICU; nonetheless, there are differences in type of blood products administered that reflect differences in indication. Critically ill patients were more likely to receive blood for major bleeding at night irrespective of admission diagnosis. (Source: Vox Sanguinis)

Transfusion ‐associated circulatory overload prevention: a retrospective observational study of diuretic use
ConclusionsFurosemide is not routinely ordered for RBC transfusion, even in patients with risk factors for TACO. Studies assessing the safety, efficacy, optimal dose, and timing of furosemide in preventing TACO are justified. (Source: Vox Sanguinis)

Factors associated with a second deferral among donors eligible for re ‐entry after a false‐positive screening test for syphilis, HCV, HBV and HIV
ConclusionRe‐entry is more often successful when donors are tested on a testing platform different from the one on which they obtained their first false‐positive result. (Source: Vox Sanguinis)
