Patients with primary Sj ögren's syndrome have alterations in absolute quantities of specific peripheral leukocyte populations
In conclusion, our analyses indicate significant alterations in the cellular profiles of peripheral blood leukocytes in patients with pSS and may help to stratify the patients according to disease severity. Increased Expression of Programmed Cell Death ‐1 in Regulatory T Cells of Patients with Severe Sepsis and Septic Shock: An Observational Clinical Study
Abstract While regulatory T cells (Tregs) constitutively express programmed cell death‐1 (PD‐1), the role of PD‐1 expression in Tregs of patients with sepsis remains unclear. Thus, we determined PD‐1 expression in Tregs from the peripheral blood of patients with severe sepsis and septic shock. Seventy‐eight patients with severe sepsis and 40 with septic shock, as well as 21 healthy subjects, were enrolled in this study. The percentage of peripheral blood PD‐1+ Tregs, as well as absolute Treg counts, were compared between these three groups. PD‐1 expression in Tregs and absolute Treg counts were also compared ...

Composition and Variation Analysis of the T Cell Receptor β‐Chain Complementarity Determining Region 3 Repertoire in Neonatal Sepsis
In this study, we investigated the TCR diversity of neonates with sepsis. Twenty neonates with severe sepsis and eight matched neonates without infection were enrolled in the study. For the neonates with sepsis, EDTA‐anticoagulated blood was collected on day 1 after the diagnosis of sepsis and on day 7 of treatment. For the neonates without infection, blood was collected one time. DNA was extracted from peripheral blood mononuclear cells. The complementarity determining region 3 (CDR3) gene was analysed by multiplex PCR and high‐throughput sequencing. The CDR3 types and lengths were similar in patients and healthy cont...

Mucosal ‐associated Invariant Cells are Deficient in Systemic Sclerosis
Abstract Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is an autoimmune disease, characterized by fibrosis of the skin and other organs, vascular impairment and deficient immune responses. Mucosal‐associated invariant T cells (MAIT) have been involved in various inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. The aims of this study were to determine the frequencies of MAIT cells in the blood of patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc) and to compare their distribution in different types of SSc. Blood samples from patients with SSc and healthy controls were examined by flow cytometer to analyse the frequencies of MAIT and γδ T cells. We demonstrate tha...
