A novel technique for node authentication in mobile ad hoc networks
Publication date: Available online 11 July 2016 Source:Perspectives in Science Author(s): Srinivas Aluvala, K. Raja Sekhar, Deepika Vodnala Mobile ad hoc network is a collection of nodes in mobility that communicate to one another forming a network through wireless links, in which each node acts a router and forward packets to destinations. The dynamic topology and self-organizing of the nodes make them more vulnerable to the network. In MANET, the major challenging task is to provide security during the routing of data packets. Various kinds of attacks have been studied in ad hoc networks, but no proper solution...

Dynamic Compensation of Real and Reactive Power in Wind Farms using STATCOM
Publication date: Available online 25 July 2016 Source:Perspectives in Science Author(s): Shahzad Ahsan, A.S. Siddiqui The dynamic stability of Squirrel Cage Induction Generators (SCIG) based wind turbines may be improved by Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM). At the time of starting of wind farm and during short circuit fault the voltage of bus connecting the wind farm reduces drastically (Chen, 2005). A controller for the STATCOM has been developed with its capability to coordinate between the positive and the negative sequences of the grid voltage. This paper investigates effects of Squirrel Cage Induction...

Ultraviolet Background and Extra-Galactic Light in Lockman Hole
Publication date: Available online 20 July 2016 Source:Perspectives in Science Author(s): Lakshmi S. Bose, N.V. Sujatha We have studied the diffuse UV emission from Lockman Hole using 23 Deep Imaging Surveys (DIS) of GALEX mission in order to quantify different components of diffuse UV radiation and search for extragalactic emission. The region is important due to the presence of minimal amount of gas and dust and the GALEX images cover more than 10 square degrees in the region. The UV emissions in the region are compared with Infrared 100 micron emission and we find a slight anti-correlation between UV and IR flux...

Template Security Analysis of Multimodal Biometric Frameworks based on Fingerprint & amp; Hand Geometry
Publication date: Available online 5 July 2016 Source:Perspectives in Science Author(s): Arvind Selwal, Sunil Kumar Gupta, Surender, Anubhuti Biometric systems are automatic tools used to provide authentication during various applications of modern computing. In this work, three different design frameworks for multimodal biometric systems based on Fingerprint and Hand Geometry modalities are proposed. An analysis is also presented to diagnose various types of template security issues in the proposed system. Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP) is applied with five decision parameters on all the designs and...

Sub-vocal speech pattern recognition of Hindi alphabet with surface electromyography signal
Publication date: Available online 18 July 2016 Source:Perspectives in Science Author(s): Munna Khan, Mosarrat Jahan Recently electromyography (EMG) based speech signals have been used as pattern recognition of phoneme, vocal frequency estimation, browser interface, and classification of speech related problem identification. Attempts have been made to use EMG signal for sub-vocal speech pattern recognition of Hindi phonemes and Hindi words. That provides the command sub-vocally to control the devices. Sub-vocal EMG data were collected from more than 10 healthy subjects aged between 25-30 years. EMG-bas...

Hybrid Fault Tolerant Routing Algorithm in NoC
Publication date: Available online 18 July 2016 Source:Perspectives in Science Author(s): Rimpy Bishnoi Network-on-Chip has been a growing design paradigm with the rise in Multi-Processor System on Chip (MPSoCs) primarily due to its scalability. While regular meshes (2 or 3-dimensional) are the usual proposal for such a paradigm, a real chip may not follow it. Heterogeneous cores, hardware failures or manufacturing defects can possibly cause irregular topologies in a Network-on-Chip. Selection of a routing algorithm is an important challenge in NoC design as it affects power consumption, communication latency and ove...

A simple stir casting technique for the preparation of in-situ Fe-aluminides reinforced Al-matrix composites
This article presents a simple stir casting technique for the development of Fe-aluminides particulate reinforced Al-matrix composites. It has been demonstrated that stirring of super-heated Al-melt by a mild steel plate followed by conventional casting and hot rolled results in uniform dispersion of in-situ Al13Fe4 particles in the Al matrix; the amount of reinforcement is found to increase with increasing melt temperature. With reference to base alloy, the developed composite exhibits higher hardness and improved tensile strength without much loss of ductility; since, composite like base alloy undergoes ductile mode of f...

Reliability Analysis of Time Dependent Stress-Strength Model with Random Cycle Times
Publication date: Available online 4 July 2016 Source:Perspectives in Science Author(s): K.C. Siju, M Kumar Most of the real life systems categorized basically into electrical and non-electrical are subject to time dependent stresses and strengths. These models consider the repeated application of either a known or random stress, in cycles of time which may also belong to one of these characteristics. This in turn induces a change in the distribution of strength over time. These facts initiated the present study of time-dependent stress-strength reliability by considering the strength random variable to be a functi...
