Tibial lengthening with a submuscular plate in adolescents
Conclusions
Although complications were not uncommon, tibial lengthening with a submuscular plate proved to be a reliable technique for treating limb length discrepancy in adolescents with reduced external fixation duration.

Therapeutic effects of high molecular weight hyaluronan injections for tendinopathy in a rat model
Conclusions
The injections of HMW HA were effective for pain relief and for partial restoration of the patellar tendon in our tendinopathy rat model, and thus may become an effective therapeutic modality for the disease. (Source: Journal of Orthopaedic Science)

The characteristics of scoliosis in Prader–Willi syndrome (PWS): analysis of 58 scoliosis patients with PWS
Conclusions
Most PWS patients presented with lumbar or thoracolumbar curves (Type 5, 6), whereas IS patients typically had thoracic scoliosis (Type 1, 2, 3). (Source: Journal of Orthopaedic Science)

Are joint line changes after primary navigated total knee arthroplasty predictable?
Conclusions
Joint line was adequately restored when computer navigation was carefully applied as a measuring tool for primary TKA. Knee joint deformity, leg alignment, gap balance, and implant type did not aid in predicting the joint line shift. (Source: Journal of Orthopaedic Science)

Sulfation patterns of exogenous chondroitin sulfate affect chondrogenic differentiation of ATDC5 cells
Conclusions
ATDC5 cells produced four different monosulfated or disulfated disaccharides in their extracellular matrices. The sulfation patterns of exogenously added CS affected chondrogenic differentiation of ATDC5 cells. In particular, CS-E rich in disulfated disaccharides significantly promoted chondrogenic differentiation of ATDC5 cells. Thus, CS containing this disulfated structure may be a useful scaffold component for enhancing chondrogenesis in cartilage tissue engineering. (Source: Journal of Orthopaedic Science)

Quality of life after bilateral total knee arthroplasty determined by a 3-year longitudinal evaluation using the Japanese knee osteoarthritis measure
Conclusions
There were statistically significant correlations between JKOM with KSS and TUG but not with ROM. Therefore, our hypothesis was false even in a Japanese population. (Source: Journal of Orthopaedic Science)

Factors affecting the incidence of aseptic nonunion after surgical fixation of humeral diaphyseal fracture
Conclusions
This analysis confirms advanced age, smoking, use of NSAIDs, and ASA score were related to an increased risk of aseptic nonunion of humeral diaphyseal fracture after surgical fixation. Patients who have the risk factors identified in this study should be counseled about the possibility of aseptic nonunion occurring after surgical fixation. (Source: Journal of Orthopaedic Science)

Increased blood flow in the anterior humeral circumflex artery correlates with night pain in patients with rotator cuff tear
Conclusions
This study revealed anterior humeral circumflex artery hemodynamics in patients with rotator cuff tear and normal subjects using Doppler ultrasonography. Night pain, particularly involving aching, appears to be related to the hemodynamics. These findings suggest that investigating the hemodynamics of patients with rotator cuff tear with night pain may lead to greater understanding of the etiology of this symptom. Operative treatment of metacarpal and phalangeal fractures in athletes: early return to play
Conclusion
We consider that an early comeback to training and competition can be permitted exclusively for patients with metacarpal and phalangeal fractures. It is important for the attending physician to administer such treatment after obtaining informed consent and develop a trusting relationship with the patient and other related individuals while paying attention to their hope of quick recovery.
