Association of cord serum albumin with neonatal hyperbilirubinemia among term appropriate-for-gestational-age neonates
ConclusionTerm neonates with hyperbilirubinemia with a total serum bilirubin level ≥17 mg/dl had levels of cord serum albumin of ≤2.8 g/dl, and this can be used as a risk indicator to predict the development of NH. (Source: International Journal of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine)

Bacteroides fragilis meningitis in a Saudi infant: case report and literature review
ConclusionB. fragilis is an uncommon cause of meningitis that requires a high index of clinical suspicion. Any pyogenic cerebrospinal fluid with negative culture should draw the attention of physicians to an unusual organisms such as anaerobes because early identification and initiation of appropriate antimicrobials can prevent long-term morbidity and mortality. Research involvement and obstacles among trainees enrolled in a pediatric residency program in Saudi Arabia
ConclusionOverall, pediatric residents rated their involvement in all aspects of research as low, especially in manuscript writing and statistical analysis. These findings suggest the need to provide support for the development of a mentoring program as well as to develop a robust and longitudinal research curriculum for the pediatric residency program to encourage the involvement of trainees in research. Aluminum phosphide poisoning: successful recovery of multiorgan failure in a pediatric patient
We report the case of a 3 year old girl with AlP poisoning who developed cardiogenic shock, ventricular arrhythmias, respiratory failure, liver injury, and significant acute kidney injury (AKI). She was successfully supported with veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) for 16 days, treated with lidocaine and magnesium sulfate for ventricular arrhythmias, and received continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) and hemodialysis for 24 days for metabolic acidosis secondary to AKI. Despite her severe clinical presentation, she had complete normalization of her end-organ dysfunction with no neurological seque...

Factors that influence the self-reported confidence of pediatric residents as team leaders during cardiopulmonary resuscitation: A national survey
ConclusionsThe self-reported confidence as team leader during CPR was higher among residents who were certified in life support courses, exposed to CPR during their training, and those who assumed the role of a team leader during CPR. Our findings suggests the need to incorporate life support training courses and simulation-based mock code programs with an emphasis on the leadership in the curriculum of the pediatric residency training program.
