Gray matter volume and white matter lesions in chronic kidney disease: exploring the association with depressive symptoms

Depression and Anxiety Symptoms in Spanish Adult Patients with Cystic Fibrosis: Associations with Health Related Quality of Life
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a chronic disease with an impact on the quality of life. Utility of pretransplant psychological measures to predict posttransplant outcomes in liver transplant patients: a systematic review
Evaluation of liver transplant (LT) candidacy involves psychosocial evaluation to ensure appropriate organ allocation. However, the utility of pre-LT psychiatric and neuropsychological factors in predicting posttransplant outcomes remains uncertain. We reviewed current evidence on the prognostic value of pre-LT psychological factors for outcomes after LT. (Source: General Hospital Psychiatry)

The checklist manifesto in action: Integrating depression treatment into routine cardiac care
In recognition of the strong evidence linking depression to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease and mortality, a 2008 American Heart Association (AHA) Science Advisory advocated that patients with coronary heart disease be systematically screened for depression to identify those who may require further assessment and treatment [1]. Indeed, depression is present in 20–25% of patients with established heart disease, and effective treatment can improve health-related quality of life and adherence with recommended care, and lower mood symptoms and health care costs [2, 3]. Re: Physician Suicide And Physician Health Programs
Physicians’ Health Programs (PHPs) [1], are a successful approach for managing substance use disorders in physicians. PHPs have evolved over decades and are often led by physicians who themselves are recovering. The model, which DuPont has labelled a new paradigm [2,3], warrants careful study as it holds promise for many who struggle with substance disorders. This approach links high quality, recovery-oriented, intensive treatment followed by long-term (5-years) monitoring and support with the abstinence standard. (Source: General Hospital Psychiatry)
