PS197 Effect of Syncopal Spells on Neurocognitive Function in Patients With Vasovagal Syndrome
Syncope is an effect of temporal, global hypoperfusion of the brain. It is known that even short episodes of circulatory arrest may lead to brain injury. Repeated hypoperfusion of brain causing syncope may lead to some impairment of neurocognitive functions in patients with vasovagal syncope (VVS). (Source: CVD Prevention and Control)

PS203 Usefulness of P Wave Analysis of the Electrocardiogram in Experimental Models of Chagas Disease in Mice
The most important manifestation of Chagas disease in humans is the chronic myocarditis. As the disease spreads throughout the heart affecting myocytes and specialized conduction system, electrocardiographic changes will reflect this. In experimental models of Chagas disease in mice, the electrocardiography is a very important tool in this kind of studies. (Source: CVD Prevention and Control)

PS204 Losses of Long-Range Correlation in the Heart Rate Variability of Patients With Chagas ’ Disease
Parasympathetic dysautonomia is an established feature of Chagas disease, but its early detection is still challenging. In a previous work we have developed the index FNNF10 based on the non-linear characteristics of the heart rate variability (HRV). We have tested it on about 500 subjects with different cardiac diseases and found that FNNF10 is sensitive to parasympathetic-sympathetic balance alterations. In the present work we show that Chagasic patients without clinical findings of disease have values of FNNF10 higher than healthy subjects. (Source: CVD Prevention and Control)

PS205 Health System Barriers to and Facilitators of Adherence to Medications for the Secondary Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease: A Systematic Review
Secondary prevention is crucial and cost-effective in the response to the cardiovascular disease(CVD) epidemic, but uptake is suboptimal.Better understanding of obstacles and facilitators to adherence at multiple health system levels may inform health policy. (Source: CVD Prevention and Control)

PS206 The Impact of a Dedicated Heart Failure Clinic in Guyana on Cardiovascular Outcomes
Longer life expectancy in low-income countries has led to an increase in prevalence of chronic diseases worldwide, with congestive heart failure (HF) making up a significant portion of this disease burden. Guyana is a small South American nation that lacks the ability to perform organized clinical follow-up and guideline based care and illustrates the growing need for structured cardiovascular care in low-income countries. PS208 Improved Blood Pressure Associated With Mpower Heart Intervention: A Multi-Faceted Intervention for Hypertension in India
Hypertension is a major risk factor for cardiovascular diseases. Though amenable to simple interventions, enough attention to early detection and management for hypertension is yet to be integrated at primary care in most developing nations. (Source: CVD Prevention and Control)

PS209 Prevalence of Rheumatic Heart Disease in Urban Versus Rural Schools Using Who Versus WHF Echo Criteria
Rheumatic fever and Rheumatic Heart disease (RF/RHD) appears to be on the rise in many developing countries. The underlying reasons for resurgence of Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD) is not known but early detection and prompt management can change the course of the disease outcome. Echocardiography (echo) is currently the state of art for early detection of this disease. (Source: CVD Prevention and Control)

PS217 To Correlate Carotid Artery Intima-Media Thickness and Plaque Score With the Syntax Score for Assessing the Complexity of Coronary Artery Disease
Carotid atherosclerosis detected by carotid ultrasound (carotid-US) is well known to correlate with presence of coronary artery disease (CAD). We have studied the correlation of two different parameters of testing of carotid atherosclerosis by carotid-US, namely Intimal media thickness (IMT) and Plaque score (PS) with the severity of CAD as determined by the widely acknowledged SYNTAX score. PS218 Education Programs for Primary Care Physicians: An Experience From Various Capacity Building Initiatives on Chronic Conditions in India
According to Global status on NCDs 2014, chronic diseases have emerged as the leading cause of death & disability worldwide with 80% of the 38 million deaths occurring in low-and middle-income countries (LMIC). Given the severely limited capacity of trained specialists, the tasks of chronic disease care need to be shifted to primary care physicians (PCPs). Innovative training models are needed to rapidly build capacity of PCPs to prevent & manage chronic diseases. (Source: CVD Prevention and Control)
