Over-expression of β-catenin is associated with high grade of prostatic cancer in Libyan patients
Conclusions We concluded that changes in expression and cell distribution of β-catenin correlated with the progression degree of prostate adenocarcinoma, signifying a role of this molecule as a marker of progression and prognosis. Further investigations, on a larger and more heterogeneous population, should be carried out to validate and extend our results. (Source: African Journal of Urology)

The effect on the sensitivities of PSA and PSA-age volume score of IPSS and nocturia in predicting positive prostate biopsy findings
Conclusions All our data shows that if we remove most of the factors which effect PSA such as age, prostate volume, prostatitis and BPH, we may increase the sensitivity of PSA for predicting positive prostate biopsy. Further PSA formulas contain of result of some tests (I-PSS, uroflowmetry or postvoiding residue urine) as well as age and prostate volume should increase the sensitivity and specificity of PSA for detecting prostate cancer. Bhat's modifications of Glassberg –Duckett repair to reduce complications in management severe hypospadias with curvature
Conclusions TIPU with spongioplasty of proximal urethra and dartos cover on skin tube reconstructs functional urethra. Distal end skin sutured to glans mucosa 5–8mm proximal to the tip of glans reconstructs a cosmetically normal looking meatus. An exact measurement of the width and length of the stretched dartos, fixation of the skin tube to the corpora and covering the skin tube with dartos helps in prevention of diverticula. Elliptical anastomosis covered with spongiosum prevents fistula and stricture at anastomotic site. (Source: African Journal of Urology)

Large renal calculus and ipsilateral flank (incisional) hernia: Perhaps another indication for Mini PCNL?
Conclusion The presence of a hernial sac within the ipsilateral flank may be amenable to Mini PCNL, provided the basic principles of puncture are maintained. This includes the use of adequate positioning, limited respiration and the use of ultra-sound identification of the bowel loops during access puncture and tract dilatation. A new indication for the use of Mini PCNL is thus reported. (Source: African Journal of Urology)

Introduction Fournier's gangrene severity index (FGSI) is a numeric score calculated from physiological parameters. It is a tool to predict the severity of this disease. The aim of our study is to identify the prognostic factors of mortality risk and to validate the FGSI. Patients and methods we reviewed retrospectively med...
