La lithotripsie extracorporelle: expérience d’un centre Sénégalais
ConclusionLa LEC a été efficace dans la prise en charge des calculs du haut appareil urinaire cependant, ces résultats peuvent encore être améliorés.AbstractObjectivesEvaluate the efficacy of extracorporeal lithotripsy (ECL) in the management of urinary lithiasis.Patients and methodsRetrospective, descriptive and analytical study of 76 patients who underwent ECL in a center in Senegal from January 2013 to January 2016. Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) versus flexible ureteroscopy (F-URS) for management of renal stone burden less than 2 cm in children: A randomized comparative study
ConclusionStone free rate after one session of F-URS is higher than ESWL with comparable rates of complications. F-URS could be offered to children who are less likely to respond completely after ESWL monotherapy. (Source: African Journal of Urology)

Angiogenesis in prostate cancer and benign prostatic hyperplasia assessed by VEGF and CD-34 IHC: A comparative clinico-pathological study
ConclusionsThe present findings may support the assumption that VEGF and CD34 expression level might have an important role in the prediction of prostate cancer as it was significantly differed with BPH. In addition, VEGF expression level showed intense staining in the tissue samples with higher grading of prostate cancer which reveals its importance as prognostic marker. Abdominoscrotal hydrocele: A systematic review and proposed clinical grading
ConclusionsAbdominoscrotal hydrocele is rare, but the number of the reported cases is far larger than the previously reported numbers. Etiology follows multiple hypotheses and management is speculative. Proposed clinical grading may support differentiation of severity of the associated cumulative risks. An academic year in Sub-Saharan Africa: The clinical experience of a British Urology Registrar
ConclusionsWorking in different countries as a surgeon improves one’s perception of the diseases’ spectra of manifestation and management, while enabling participation to surgical activities nowadays seldom in the West. The holistic benefit of such a year, to a surgeon’s in-training professional life cannot be over-emphasised; both on the grounds of experiencing different surgical realities and building upon professional skills, but also in cultivating an international network. High (trans) scrotal orchidopexy for palpable undescended testes in children: Influence of age and testicular position
ConclusionIncreasing age of patients and location of testes had no effect on the outcome of high scrotal orchidopexy in terms of successful placement of testes in the scrotum and rate of testicular retraction when compared to the conventional orchidopexy. However, the operative time was shorter and the cosmetic appearance of scar was better in the high scrotal group compared to the conventional orchidopexy. (Source: African Journal of Urology)

Primitive neuroectodermal tumor of kidney mimicking as an inflammatory renal mass
ConclusionRenal PNET should be kept in the differentials of a renal SOL presenting in adolescents and young adults. All diagnostic modalities concerning SOL of the kidney must be interpreted with caution in order for the appropriate management. Punctures for cytology can be indicated in select cases. Histopathology, immuno histochemistry supported by cytogenetic studies are required for the exact diagnosis of renal PNET. Multidisciplinary approach consisting of surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy is recommended to manage this condition in view of its aggressive nature and poor prognosis. Laparoscopic excision of a giant adrenal myelolipoma and review of the literature
ConclusionsLaparoscopic excision of giant adrenal myelolipoma is a challenging procedure, but it seems to be a feasible promising approach. Expert surgeons are recommended when operating large tumors, especially, in the obese patients. (Source: African Journal of Urology)
