Evaluation of HLA-G 14-bp ins/del and  +3142G > C polymorphisms with susceptibility to recurrent spontaneous abortion
HLA-G is critically important for successful implantation during pregnancy. Increasing evidence supposed that HLA-G plays a key role in tolerance of the semi-allogeneic graft in pregnancy by inhibiting the cytotoxic functions of T and NK cells. The present study aimed to evaluate the impact of HLA-G rs1063320 (+3142G>C) and 14-bp insertion (ins)/deletion (del) polymorphisms on recurrent spontaneous abortion (RSA). Effects of liver depression and psychological stress on human uterine leiomyoma cells by an AR –cAMP–PKA signal transduction pathway
Based on the emotional theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and combined with the modern medicine theory of psychological stress, a research model of human uterine leiomyoma cells (ULM) was cultured in  vitro to determine the effectiveness of adrenergic receptor (AR) agonists in human ULM cell growth. In addition, we studied the functional influence of “liver depression and psychological stress theory” on fibroid formation by intervening in the AR–cAMP–PKA signaling pathway. The intention was to establish a new method to prevent and cure fibroids through “liver depression and psychological stress theory” an...

Continuous oral cyclophosphamide as salvage or maintenance therapy in ovarian, primary peritoneal, and fallopian tube cancers: A  retrospective, single institute study
Most patients with recurrent ovarian cancer are treated with multiple regimens of intravenous salvage chemotherapy. These anticancer agents often cause severe toxicities and offset their therapeutic effects. The present study assessed the experience of a single institute regarding the safety and treatment outcomes of continuous oral cyclophosphamide in patients with ovarian, primary peritoneal, and fallopian tube cancers. Potential differentiation of islet-like cells from pregnant cow-derived placental stem cells
Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that destroys islet cells and results in insufficient insulin secretion by pancreatic β-cells. Islet transplantation from donors is an approach used for treating patients with diabetes; however, this therapy is difficult to implement because of the lack of donors. Nevertheless, several stem cells have the potential to differentiate from islet-like cells and enable insulin secretion for treating diabetes in animal models. For example, placenta is considered a waste material and can be harvested noninvasively during delivery without ethical or moral concerns. (Source: Taiwanese Journ...
