What should we understand when one mentions preoperative bowel preparation?
We read the article of W.-T. Liu et  al. [1] ‘Is preoperative bowel preparation necessary for gynecological oncology surgery?’. The mechanical bowel preparation (MBP) technique that was described in the material and methods section drew our attention. (Source: Taiwanese Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology)

The birth weight of vaginal birth after cesarean section
We reported a 10-year experience of vaginal birth after cesarean section (VBAC) in the Taipei Veterans General Hospital and found that body weight of newborns might be a key factor to predict the successful VBAC in the current study [2]. Dr. Tsai had provided three comments, including (1) the different birth weight between the success and failure of VBAC is not clinically important, because Dr. (Source: Taiwanese Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology)

Kisspeptin and preeclampsia
We read the recent article by Ziyaraa et  al. [1] entitled “Correlation of Kisspeptin-10 level and fetal well-being in preeclamptic patients” published in the Taiwanese Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology with interest. The authors reported that plasma kisspeptin-10 level was lower in preeclamptic pregnant women and inversely correla ted with the severity of the disease [1]. In addition, plasma kisspeptin-10 level at either second or third trimester directly correlated with fetal birth weight in women with mild preeclampsia but inversely correlated with fetal birth weight in women with severe preeclampsia. Reply to: Misoprostol during cesarean delivery: At which time and by which route?
We appreciate the interest shown by Dr. Shehata in our recently published paper [1]. We would like to thank him for his valuable comments that add much more to our own published findings. Regarding the cost of misoprostol, we disagree with the author that misoprostol is costly than oxytocin wherever in Egypt or worldwide. A recent study demonstrated that the mean cost of misoprostol was significantly lower than the oxytocin (2.0  ± 0.8 vs. 5.1 ± 0.9 US dollars; P  (Source: Taiwanese Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology)

First trimester maternal serum analytes and second trimester uterine artery Doppler in the prediction of preeclampsia and fetal growth restriction
This study aimed to determine whether pregnancy-associated plasma protein-A (PAPP-A), free β-human chorionic gonadotropin (β-hCG), a disintegrin and metalloprotease 12 (ADAM12), and placenta protein 13 (PP13) in the first trimester, and uterine artery Doppler (UAD) in the second trimester, predict preeclampsia and fetal growth restriction (FGR). Fetal programming of the metabolic syndrome
Prenatal development is currently recognized as a critical period in the etiology of human diseases. This is particularly so when an unfavorable environment interacts with a genetic predisposition. The fetal programming concept suggests that maternal nutritional imbalance and metabolic disturbances may have a persistent and intergenerational effect on the health of offspring and on the risk of diseases such as obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases. The value of hysteroscopic management of cesarean scar pregnancy: a report of 44 cases
With the incidence of cesarean scar pregnancy (CSP) rising, the reports of serious adverse outcomes of it have increased gradually. The management of CSP remains an inadequately explored clinical field, and there is no consensus on it presently. The present study was performed to investigate the efficacy and safety of operative hysteroscopy in the diagnosis and treatment of CSP. (Source: Taiwanese Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology)
