A warmed topical fluoride solution enhances KOH-soluble and -insoluble fluoride formation on tooth surfaces in vitro
This study investigated the effect of warmed topical fluoride solutions on human enamel. Several solutions (acidified phosphate fluoride (APF), 2% NaF or 0.2% NaF) were applied to human premolars for 5 min at 25, 37, 50, and 60 °C. KOH-soluble and -insoluble fluoride formation on the enamel surface was then measured. KOH-soluble fluoride formation increased proportionally with temperature. Effectiveness of aspartate aminotransferase as a marker of periodontal disease in children and adolescents
Conclusions It was possible to measure AST levels in children and teenagers. It is suggested that we provide more specific information to children and their guardian using BANA and AST. Measuring biomarkers during regular oral check-ups could lead to an early diagnosis and intervention to avoid the progression of periodontitis during the childhood and teenage years. Surgical removal of submandibular gland sialolithiasis in a 9-year-old girl: A case report
We report a case of a 9-year-old girl with a sialolith in ‘the right anterior Wharton's duct’ resulting in a submandibular sialadenitis.
