Oral findings in patient with lethal hypophosphatasia treated with enzyme replacement therapy
We report here a 3-year-old female diagnosed with perinatal HPP who had received enzyme replacement therapy starting from 1 day after birth. Oral and radiographic examinations revealed deep periodontal pockets, severe mobility, and dentinogenesis imperfecta with root formation defects, especially in the mandibular primary second molars, while the tooth germs of permanent teeth except for the first molars were unclear. Dental manifestations of lethal HPP following treatment with enzyme replacement therapy were markedly different from those of mild HPP. (Source: Pediatric Dental Journal)

Effectiveness of a mouth rinsing function test for evaluating the oral function of children
Conclusions MRFT is effective for evaluating the oral function of children because the MRFT score increases with age. The MRFT score is related to eating behavior; hence, children with low MRFT scores should be supported appropriately. MRFT was not correlated with occlusal force or the thickness and length of the masseter muscle; therefore, it is necessary to examine the oral dexterity, using MRFT, when evaluating the oral function of children. Oral manifestations of Japanese patients with osteogenesis imperfecta
Conclusions The main oral problem associated with osteogenesis imperfecta is dentinogenesis imperfecta. Treatment with bisphosphonates does not need to be interrupted when ectopically placed primary teeth are extracted to allow replacement by permanent successors. Periodic oral health management is recommended for patients with osteogenesis imperfecta, especially those with dentinogenesis imperfecta. (Source: Pediatric Dental Journal)

Maternal occlusal disharmony during pregnancy induces spatial memory deficits associated with the suppression of hippocampal neurogenesis in adult mouse offspring
Conclusion These findings suggest that maternal occlusal disharmony during pregnancy increases plasma corticosterone concentrations in the dam, which leads to learning deficits and suppression of hippocampal cell proliferation in the offspring. Occlusal disharmony in the dam may be a risk factor for cognitive impairment in the offspring. (Source: Pediatric Dental Journal)
