Predictors of weight reduction and maintenance in a large cohort of overweight and obese adults in a community setting
ConclusionsIn a community‐based setting, number of visits to a dietitian is a strong predictor of successful weight reduction and maintenance. Initial success is a critical predictor of weight loss maintenance. Subgroup of older, diabetic patients treated with insulin has a dramatically lower probability of weight reduction success. Use of the malnutrition screening tool by non ‐dietitians to identify at‐risk patients in a rehabilitation setting: A validation study
ConclusionsNon‐dietitian staff failed to apply the malnutrition screening tool with sufficient sensitivity in normal ward practice to warrant its use in the rehabilitation setting. Alternative options for identification of malnutrition need to be considered to ensure appropriate treatment. (Source: Nutrition and Dietetics)

Influence of grandparents on the dietary intake of their 2 –12‐year‐old grandchildren: A systematic review
ConclusionsGrandparents in caregiving roles may negatively influence the dietary intake and weight status of their grandchildren. More rigorous, targeted studies are required to further define the mechanisms by which grandparents’ knowledge, attitudes and feeding behaviours may influence child dietary intake. This review suggests that grandparents may be an important audience to target in future child nutrition interventions. (Source: Nutrition and Dietetics)

Beverage intake of Australian children and relationship with intake of fruit, vegetables, milk and body weight at 2, 3.7 and 5 years of age
ConclusionsTracking of intake over time supports the notion that children’s early experience of sweet tastes is a strong predictor of future intake. Limiting exposure to sweet beverages in early childhood remains an important strategy in the development of healthy food preferences and promotion of dietary quality.
