Postmortem computed tomography (PMCT) is becoming common in the practice of forensic medicine [1,2]. Imaging methods have revolutionized not only forensic diagnosis but also the documentation of evidence that can be applicable in court proceedings [3]. In addition, PMCT is a superior tool for finding air within the body, such as pneumothorax and gas embolism of the heart and great vessels [4,5]. Pharmacokinetic Analyses using Absorption Kinetics in Low-Alcohol Dose Cases of Drunken Driving
In Japan, driving a car under the influence of alcohol (DUI) is a large social problem. Since the 2000s, many horrific fatal accidents caused by drunken drivers have resulted in people demanding stricter laws, and repeated revisions to sections of the Road Traffic Act have seen harsher penalties for drunken driving being introduced and enforced. As a result of these stricter changes, the rate of fatal accidents caused by drunken drivers has decreased, whereas low-alcohol dose cases of drunken driving are still being registered [1 –3]. When a death apparently associated to sexual assault is instead a natural death due to idiopathic hypereosinophilic syndrome: the importance of gamma-hydroxybutyric acid analysis in vitreous humor
We here report a case involving a 21-year-old female, found dead in a central square of a city in the south of Italy. Initial evidences and circumstances were suggestive of a death associated with a sexual assault. Two peripheral blood and two vitreous humor samples were collected for the purpose of gamma-hydroxybutyric acid (GHB) testing from the dead body at two different post-mortem intervals (PMIs): approximately 2 (t0) and 36 (t1) hours. The obtained results showed that, between t0 and t1, there was an increase of GHB concentrations in peripheral blood and vitreous humor of 66.3% and 8.1%, respectively. (Source: Legal Medicine)

Population genetic analysis of Xiamen Han population on 21 short tandem repeat loci
