Comparing Estimates of Disability Prevalence Using Federal and International Disability Measures in National Surveillance
The National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) is changing the annual inclusion of standardized disability identifiers, reinvigorating the priority to examine existing disability question sets. These sets include questions developed by the United States (U.S.) National Center for Health Statistics in conjunction with the U.S. Census Bureau (the American Community Survey questions, ACS) and United Nations (the Washington Group Short Set questions, WGSS), respectively, that are policy relevant, comparable across populations, and short enough to be included in censuses and surveys across countries. The Development and Testing of a Module on Child Functioning for Identifying Children with Disabilities in Surveys
With the advent of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) there is an urgent and pressing need not only for quality, cross-nationally comparable data on disability but also for the disaggregation of SDG indicators by disability status. The sustainable development goals represent one of the greatest opportunities afforded persons with disabilities to transform their daily lives in a positive way; to work towards inclusion and to become part of the society; to ensure that no one is left behind. Do Electronic Health Records support the complex needs of people with disability?
Beginning in the 1990 ’s, a series of seminal reports by the Institute of Medicine (now National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine) identified and discussed concerns about delivering quality medical care to all Americans (1-4). In particular, studies noted that people with chronic, usually multiple, cond itions may be at particular disadvantage in traversing the health care system, especially related to coordination of care (5). This of course has significant implications for people with disability. (Source: Disability and Health Journal)

State of Research and Program Development for Adults with Hearing Loss
Hearing loss is common with a growing body of evidence of its global impact on our patient population. There remains much to learn about the mechanisms and epidemiologic, genetic, and other biobehavioral risk factors associated with hearing loss and its chronic disease sequelae, as well as how hearing healthcare, surveillance, and clinician-based training programs can best reduce the overall health burden among older individuals with hearing loss. This paper provides an update on the state of research for adults with hearing loss. (Source: Disability and Health Journal)
