Do Electronic Health Records support the complex needs of people with disability?

Beginning in the 1990 ’s, a series of seminal reports by the Institute of Medicine (now National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine) identified and discussed concerns about delivering quality medical care to all Americans (1-4). In particular, studies noted that people with chronic, usually multiple, cond itions may be at particular disadvantage in traversing the health care system, especially related to coordination of care (5). This of course has significant implications for people with disability.
