Association Between Erectile Function and Biomarkers of Subclinical Atherosclerosis: A Study Based on Middle-Aged Healthy Men from the General Population
Conclusions:These results indicate that CRP is a biomarker of subclinical atherosclerosis associated with ED. This association seems to be linked to greater BMI among such men.Curr Urol 2015;9:119-123 (Source: Current Urology)

Unusual Glomus Tumor of the Penis
Conclusion:Differential diagnosis of glomus tumors includes hemangiomas, neurofibromatosis, epithelial lesions, and spindle-cell lesions. Physical examination and histological findings should be used for diagnosis. Treatment options can be either conservative or invasive, in which the patient undergoes surgical excision.Curr Urol 2015;9:113-118 (Source: Current Urology)

Mullerian Duct Cyst Causing Bladder Outlet Obstruction in a Patient with HNF-1 β Gene Deletion
A 24-year-old male was referred to a tertiary hospital for a possible prostatic abscess. The patient went into acute urinary retention. Transurethral drainage was performed. MRI pelvis three days post-operatively identified the prostatic cystic structure as a m üllerian duct cyst. Several other phenotypical features were noted on examination as well as findings on investigations. From these diagnosis of hepatocyte nuclear factor-1β (HNF-1β) gene deletion was made. < br / > Curr Urol 2015;9:106-108 (Source: Current Urology)

Painful Bladder Syndrome: An Unusual Presentation in a Case of Upper Tract Fungus Balls
Urinary tract fungus balls are a rare pathologic entity which may be asymptomatic or have variable presentations. To date, there have been no documented cases of fungus balls presenting as painful bladder syndrome. Painful bladder syndrome is a constellation of symptoms which may include pelvic pain, urgency and frequency not explained by other causes. Here, we present the first case of these two entities concurrently. Our patient had a longstanding history of diabetes, nephrolithiasis and recurrent urinary tract infections. He presented with symptoms of painful bladder syndrome and work-up revealed filling defects within ...

Intraoperative Frozen Section of the Prostate Reduces the Risk of Positive Margin Whilst Ensuring Nerve Sparing in Patients with Intermediate and High-Risk Prostate Cancer Undergoing Robotic Radical Prostatectomy: First Reported UK Series
Conclusion: Introduction of the IOFS analysis during intrafascial nerve spare RRP has reduced PSM and the rate of urinary incontinence.Curr Urol 2015;9:93-103 (Source: Current Urology)

Chronic Inflammation in Prostate Biopsy Cores is an Independent Factor that Lowers the Risk of Prostate Cancer Detection and is Inversely Associated with the Number of Positive Cores in Patients Elected to a First Biopsy
Conclusion: In a cohort of men undergoing the first biopsy set after prostate assessment, the presence of CII in the biopsy core was an independent factor inversely associated with PCa risk as well as with the number of positive biopsy cores (tumor extension). Clinically, the detection of CII in negative biopsy cores might reduce the risk of PCa in repeat biopsies as well as the probability of detecting multiple positive cores.Curr Urol 2015;9:82-92 (Source: Current Urology)

The Efficacy of a Transurethral Incision for Diurnal and Nocturnal Enuresis in Young Males
Conclusion: TUI is more effective for diurnal enuresis than nocturnal enuresis. At postoperative 6 months, clinicians should thus consider other etiologies for unresponsive cases and start other treatment options.Curr Urol 2015;9:79-81 (Source: Current Urology)

The Effect of the Antioxidant Drug “U-74389G” on Creatinine Levels during Ischemia Reperfusion Injury in Rats
Conclusion: Independent of reperfusion time, U-74389G administration significantly decreased the creatinine levels in an ischemic rat model. This study demonstrates that short-term U-74389G administration improves renal function by increasing creatinine excretion.Curr Urol 2015;9:73-78 (Source: Current Urology)

Oncologic Outcome of Radical Prostatectomy as Monotherapy for Men with High-risk Prostate Cancer
Conclusions: Comparatively favorable cancer control could be achieved using RP as monotherapy for men with high-risk PCa; however, RP alone may be insufficient for patients with capsular invasion, seminal vesicle invasion, and/or surgical margin positivity.Curr Urol 2015;9:67-72 (Source: Current Urology)

Spinal Anesthesia Facilitates the Early Recognition of TUR Syndrome
Conclusion: The features most associated with the early presentation of TUR syndrome require the patient to be conscious for detection. The use of spinal anaesthesia is therefore desirable to facilitate its early recognition.Curr Urol 2015;9:57-61 (Source: Current Urology)

Pulmonary Embolism Following Outpatient Vasectomy
We present the rare case of a healthy 32-year-old Caucasian male with no known risk factors who presented with pleuritic chest pain 26 days after his outpatient vasectomy was performed. Subsequently, he was found to have a pulmonary embolism as per radiological imaging. We explore the association between outpatient vasectomies and venous thromboembolic events. A review of the literature is also included.Curr Urol 2015;9:51-53 (Source: Current Urology)

Management of Primitive Neuroectodermal Tumor of the Kidney with Inferior Vena Cava Thrombus
We report a case of a primary renal PNET with extensive tumor thrombus into the inferior vena cava, and lung metastasis in a pediatric patient, and its successful management. Our 14-year-old patient with renal PNET was managed with radical nephrectomy, thrombectomy and chemotherapy and remains disease free to date. The diagnosis of renal PNETs should be considered in young adult patients who present with aggressive renal masses at initial presentations. Despite its aggressive nature, good outcomes can be achieved by a multimodality therapeutic strategy.Curr Urol 2015;9:47-50 (Source: Current Urology)
