A case report of partial molar pregnancy associated with a normal appearing dizygotic fetus
Publication date: Available online 23 January 2016 Source:Asian Pacific Journal of Reproduction Author(s): Maryam Rahamni, Sara Parviz Partial molar pregnancy is a rare entity in which there is usually a triploid abnormal fetus associated with a large placenta with cystic changes. The incidence of a normal diploid fetus and a partial molar placenta is extremely rare. Here we report a case of partial molar pregnancy in which a normal appearing male fetus with diploid karyotype coexist. A focal placental abnormal region was detected at 11 week of gestation as enlargement associated with cystic changes. Fetus showed no...

An update on oestrus synchronisation of goats in Nigeria
Publication date: Available online 23 January 2016 Source:Asian Pacific Journal of Reproduction Author(s): B.O. Omontese, P.I. Rekwot, I.U. Ate, J.O. Ayo, M.U. Kawu, J.S. Rwuaan, A.I. Nwannenna, R.A. Mustapha, A.A. Bello This review is aimed at providing information on current status of oestrus synchronization as a management tool in goats in Nigeria. Oestrus synchronisation is a reproductive tool that enables goat farmers breed their animals within a short pre-determined period. The principle of oestrus synchronisation is chiefly the control of the luteal phase of the oestrous cycle and two basic mec...

Co-administration of caffeine and hydromethanolic fraction of Citrullus lanatus seeds improved testicular functions in alloxan-induced diabetic male wistar rats
Conclusions The present study showed that co-administration of caffeine and hydromethanolic fraction of C. lanatus seed extract have hypoglycemic effect and may consequently ameliorate the impaired testicular general architecture and inhibits sperm death or testicular damage caused by alloxan-induced diabetes. Pregnancy rate in Bulgarian White milk goats with natural and synchronized estrus after artificial insemination by frozen semen during breeding season
Conclusion The goats with natural estrus and GnRH treatment tend to enhance pregnancy rate after double artificial insemination 8 hours apart. The insemination number has no significant impact on pregnancy rate in synchronized goats as the overall pregnancy rate is better than in animals with natural estrus without GnRH administration. Multiple ovulation and embryo transfer (MOET) in camels: An overview
Publication date: Available online 23 January 2016 Source:Asian Pacific Journal of Reproduction Author(s): Binoy S. Vettical, S.B. Hong, Nisar A. Wani Unlike in other domestic animal species like cattle, reproductive biotechnologies like Artificial Insemination (AI) and Embryo Transfer (ET) are not well developed and thus are not being used as routine breeding procedures in camels. One of the important objectives of this manuscript is to focus on analyzing the present status of Multiple Ovulation and Embryo Transfer (MOET) in camels and its future perspectives. Camels are induced ovulators, thus require hormonal ...

Repeat breeding: Incidence, risk factors and diagnosis in buffaloes
Publication date: Available online 22 January 2016 Source:Asian Pacific Journal of Reproduction Author(s): Chandra Shekher Saraswat, G.N. Purohit Repeat breeding in buffaloes was evaluated in terms of incidence, risk factors and diagnosis. The incidence of repeat breeding is low in buffaloes however in different studies the incidence varied from 0.70% to 30%. Because of seasonal suppression of fertility repeat breeding in buffaloes should be limited to the breeding season. Spring and winter calving, first parity, periparturient disease and lactation are significant risk factors for repeat breeding in buffaloes. The...
