Sub-chronic exposure to EOMABRS leachate induces germinal epithelial cell lesions, sperm abnormalities and oxidative damage in rats
Conclusion The study concluded that possible mechanisms by which EOMABRSL at the investigated doses elicits spermatotoxicity could be linked to the testicular oxidative stress and damage to germinal epithelial cells by mixed-metal exposure. However, this may suggest possible reproductive health hazards in subjects with environmental or industrial exposure. (Source: Asian Pacific Journal of Reproduction)

Association of the patterns of global DNA methylation and expression analysis of DNA methyltransferases in impaired spermatogenic patients
Conclusion In conclusion, increased levels of global methylation in impaired cases might be the one of the contributing factors for aberrant gene expression in infertile patients. (Source: Asian Pacific Journal of Reproduction)

The effects of insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I) complex from seminal plasma on capacitation, membrane integrity and DNA fragmentation in goat spermatozoa
Conclusions Sperm quality include motility, viability and membrane integrity were lower after centrifugation. Whereas DNA fragmentation after incubation in the IGF-I complex medium also was lower compared to that of specimens in the BO and BO + IGF-I complex media. In vitro assessment of ROS on motility of epididymal sperm of male rat exposed to intraperitoneal administration of nonylphenol
Conclusions This concludes that NP leads oxidative stress in the epididymal sperm of rats. Moreover, NP can disrupt sperm motility and alterations in the sperm morphology. (Source: Asian Pacific Journal of Reproduction)

The preparation and culture of washed human sperm: A comparison of a suite of protein-free media with media containing human serum albumin
Conclusion These results support the use of PF media supplemented with methylcellulose as an alternative to HSA, although a modification to the manufacturer's protocol of 6-min pre-incubation before assessing sperm motility must be used. Further studies should investigate the function of such sperm prepared in PF medium. (Source: Asian Pacific Journal of Reproduction)

Nitric oxide synthase inhibition ameliorates nicotine-induced sperm function decline in male rats
Conclusion Taken together, the present data indicate the abilities of l-NAME to ameliorate nicotine-induced spermatotoxic effects in male rats via a mechanism dependent on the circulating testosterone level. (Source: Asian Pacific Journal of Reproduction)

Successful pregnancy by IVF in a patient with congenital cervical atresia
We report a case of successful pregnancy after in-vitro fertilization in a 32-year-old patient with congenital cervical atresia diagnosed at the age of 28 years. She was referred to our unit and had a successful pregnancy after in-vitro fertilization. Caesarean section was performed at 38 weeks gestation. A healthy male baby weighing 3650 g was safely delivered. (Source: Asian Pacific Journal of Reproduction)

Lauric acid abolishes interferon-gamma (IFN-γ)-induction of intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) and vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 (VCAM-1) expression in human macrophages
Conclusions This study successfully proved that lauric acid was able to antagonize the up-regulatory effect of IFN-γ on ICAM-1 and VCAM-1 expressions in THP-1 macrophages. This indicates that lauric acid may be an anti-inflammatory therapeutic and prophylaxis agent for atherosclerosis. (Source: Asian Pacific Journal of Reproduction)

Attempted self-removal of Implanon®: A case report
Publication date: Available online 24 July 2015 Source:Asian Pacific Journal of Reproduction Author(s): Babatunde A. Gbolade A 34-year-old woman with Affective Bipolar Disorder attempted self-removal of an impalpable Implanon® from her arm with a pair of non-sterile implements, resulting in an infected and swollen arm. The device was removed after ultrasound imaging without any complications. This instance is useful for enhancing cognizance of the possibility of self-removal of contraceptive implants and the need for specific follow-up arrangements and timely appointments when a patient requests removal. It also und...
