Metabolic syndrome among infertile women with polycystic ovary syndrome
Conclusion The prevalence of MS was 30.5% in the studied PCOS women. The age above 25 years and waist-hip ratio ⩾ 0.85 were powerful predictors for prevalence of MS in PCOS women. (Source: Asian Pacific Journal of Reproduction)

The effects of a heterochromatin polymorphism in chromosome 6 on premature ovarian failure
Publication date: March 2015 Source:Asian Pacific Journal of Reproduction, Volume 4, Issue 1 Author(s): Halime Küçük , Yunus Aydin , Ebru Erzurumluoglu , Muhsin Özdemir , Hikmet Hassa , Sevilhan Artan Through cytogenetic analysis, heteromorphisms were detected in chromosomes 1,9,16 and Y and defined as non-phenotypic variations. The polymorphism in the centromeric heterochromatin region of chromosome 6 is a rare variant, and only five cases have been documented in the literature. In our study, we used cytogenetic and molecular techniques to detect an increase in the centromeric heterochromatin region in the s...

Effects of different concentrations of sucrose or trehalose on the post-thawing quality of cattle bull semen
Conclusion It is finally concluded that the addition of 50–100 mM trehalose or sucrose/L to TCYF have a beneficial effect in chilling diluted bull semen, while the use of 50 mM trehalose or 50–100 mM sucrose had their benefits on freezing-thawing of extended semen. Effects of long term storage of semen in liquid nitrogen on the viability, motility and abnormality of frozen thawed Frisian Holstein bull spermatozoa
Conclusions Based on the results in these experiments, it may be concluded that concentration sperm during one year storage in liquid nitrogen resulted in similar concentration storage as long as six years. However, the viability and motility sperm thawed storage in liquid nitrogen during six years was lower than storage on the 1 and 2 years. (Source: Asian Pacific Journal of Reproduction)

Effect of seasons on semen production, effect of melatonin on the liquid storage (5 °C) with correlated study of birth rate in mithun (Bos frontalis)
Conclusions The result of present study indicates that the melatonin protects seminal and antioxidant profiles varied in different seasons, semen quality also varied from different seasons and was highest in spring and lowest in summer season. It was concluded from the present study that breeding takes place throughout year but the peak breeding season is from November to April (spring and winter season) in mithun. Mammary gland pathologies in the parturient buffalo
Publication date: December 2014 Source:Asian Pacific Journal of Reproduction, Volume 3, Issue 4 Author(s): G N Purohit , Mitesh Gaur , Chandra Shekher Parturition related mammary gland pathologies in the buffalo appear to be low on accord of anatomic (longer teat length, thicker streak canal) and physiologic (lower cisternal storage of secreted milk, lower milk production) differences with cattle. Hemolactia, udder edema and hypogalactia usually occur in the buffalo due to physiologic changes around parturition however mastitis involves pathologic changes in the udder and teats; the incidence of mastitis is however ...

Synergistic effects of chlorpyrifos with piperonyl butoxide (pbo) against the lesser mealworm, Alphitobius diaperinus (Panzer) (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae)
Conclusions The study suggests that the mortality rate of lesser meal worm is increase with the increase of insecticide dose. The LD50 values of the insecticides are inversely related to the toxicity of the insecticides i.e. higher the LD50 value lower the toxicity of the insecticide.
